I like interactive control decks that dont center their wincon around flipping up a floodgate. They create some back and forth matches and let both players actually have fun most of the time.

Yep, once had duel with Sky Striker against Mekk-Striker, the duel was 20+ turns, I won with one card left in deck. That duel had everything: Heart of Cards moments, missplays, comedy and tragedy. The best Yu-gi-oh experience I've ever had.

bruh i think what makes this duel is interesting is they're playing decks that have the ability to comeback. comeback ability is what makes the interactions going back and forth.

Yeah in combo decks that only have one main combo there is no comeback. If you summon until there are 2 cards in extra deck on turn one and then opponent outs the board the duel just ends

one of the best games Ive ever had was one I lost where I was running Invoked Darklords vs Utopia and my god that game went for nearly 20 turns of back and forth, the opponent really channeled his inner Protag with the deck at the end there

That was a good yugioh match, neither deck played in combo that used up the entire extra deck in one turn so there was the ability to rebuild on both sides, there wasn't any massive power board breakers except nib which both players got hit with it, that was nice

The problem is 80% of games on masterduel you're autolosing to maxx c, a floodgate, or an aurorodon combo.

@@elhaykadosh6666 I think that's the main problem though. In order to play competitively players are locked into one of two decks. The one that auto wins or the one that can counter the auto win. I don't know about you but that doesn't sound fun and interactive to me. There's a giant library of cards and arch types that are currently unplayable that I really want to try but can't unless my goal is to lose.

The problem is the game is so insanely fast you HAVE TO slow the opponent. You can't set up a grind game when your opponent goes first and vomits out half their deck turn 1. There's a reason sky striker fell out of the meta so hard until they picked up mystic mine; turns out, they need those extra 1-2 turns to do anything and not get otk'd immediately.

There was a game I played Orcust against Salamangreat and it was reallly long, but so much fun, and I can tell the other person was enjoying it too because they didn't even hit surrender when they had no plays left they just let the last attack go through. Love TOSS format, but was extra fun because I played Thunder at the time instead of Orcust so it was a semi new experience

As a Sky Striker player, this duel was REALLY fun to watch even if it ended with the Striker player losing. I have a going 2nd Sky Striker deck like this person, and duels like this are one of the reasons why I love the deck so much.

I'm surprised at the end, you didn't just shuffle back gazelle with jaguar then search it with circle - that way you instantly get to use it again without running into the sunlight wolf restriction. :-) Maybe it isn't needed at that point but worth mentioning.

After a few formats of uninteractive combo decks, I'm starting to see the appeal of toss format, decks from that era seem to be a lot more focused on grinding and rebuilding boards, which is the fun part of the game for sure

To be fair to him, when Nib came out Salad was already on its way down with I believe Circle and Gazelle being limited in the July banlist after WCQ. Nib sealed their fate, and thus Salad was practically non-existent post-Worlds.

After nib release it was still tier 1, after stallio ban it was the second best deck right next to spyral, even after adamancipator and eldlich release it was a solid deck. Heck. People are still sometimes topping with it.

I had a duel where I was playing Ghostricks, and my opponent played Subterror. The duel was back and forth for multiple turns because Ghostrick Night stopped him from getting all his flips, but the flips from Hidden City and Final Battle stopped me from ever fully locking him. It was the most fun I've ever had in a duel, and then I realized that I would never have a game anywhere close to that ever again. Genuine back and forth rather than "I go first, I win", without either side pulling punches to achieve that back and forth. And the realization of what Yu-Gi-Oh could've been, and that I had peaked and would likely never get that sort of enjoyment again is what really killed Yu-Gi-Oh for me. I still play Master Duel occasionally to mess around with F2P janky decks, but I've pretty much quit TCG because I no longer enjoyed it, and simply didn't realize what I'd been missing until I saw the potential Yu-Gi-Oh had in that match-up.

Ayy, I finally pulled salad together after realizing that live twin needs a billion master pack UR and the selection pack didn't have everything you need in archetype either. Still don't have my brain wrapped around it 100%, but it's fun and I managed to take a game from Adventure Pranks somehow after this dude opened cracked. Honestly think the only reason I got by was because they F'ed up and yeeted the battle butler without the meow meow effect. Going second I absolutely would have been screwed because they also hard drew fusion destiny of course, but we take those.

I think if yugioh didn't have negates and interruptions like it does now we would have more back and fourth duels like this and that's what would make yugioh interesting again, right now yugioh revolves around you making a board that doesn't allow your opponent to play the game and let's be real no one enjoys that because that's not how yugioh is supposed to be, yugioh is not a single player games, but how the current yugioh is played that's what it became and if it keeps being like this, yugioh will never be fun like it used to be.

Eternal Format/Toss was so nice to play, only 1, max 3 interruptions per turn. Grindy games decided by skill. MD rn is just make Halq=3 Negates + Adventure

The key is to stop their spells from popping off.. once u do that SS is screwed.. and no I'm not talking about cancer IO.. use cards that negate cards wen they activate.. u can negate just one or two Spell cards and skystriker is history.

We can see YGO back-and-forth when the disruption deck have low attack and high attack but didn't have a lot/any quick disruptions/negates. . Why YGO end too fast because some deck can set a lot of disruption with big Body in 1st turn. So, if 2nd not lucky enough to get some "broken" spell. They will lose because opponent can hit with big ATK. . Sky Striker may have a lot of disruption. But their attack is small. So, it still give a chance to opponent to play again next turn.
