Good morning , I just have to say I used to watch you guys on the TV many moons ago with total wonder , I am sure you were part of the reason I have a little boat . I have now found you guys again and in these very troubled times ( with C19) you are a total breath of fresh air . Many thanks and keep safe and well where ever you are . Regards Russ

Terrific sail. Loved watching the entrance to Dover, as I just recently did it also (into the same marina!). I really love the retractable keel. That was impressive, but scary, watching you with that beautiful new boat on the sand bar. It would take me a while to get used to doing that. Wonderful filming and narrative.

I recently wrote a blog titled "London Calling: Cruise Ships on the Thames", so when I found this video during a Google Search, I couldn't resist watching, especially since I love sailing. I do a little hobie cat sailing of my own. This is a great vlog! Frankly, I'd much rather sail up the Thames this way than on a cruise ship. I've never sailed on one as small as yours. All of the scuba dive liveaboards I sailed on when closer to the size of the 3-masted barque, "Belem", of France you past in time frame 4:57. I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to following your sea adventures. Best wishes and smooth sailing.

Splendid journey! Great travel episode. The South Coast is immensely beautiful. Did you know that to this day it is still littered with properties built with Spanish and French money? Not willingly, though :) Corsairs with a license from the king got it and built here.

I love it that the marina can ask what draft you are and you can reply, 'what draft would you like' - and then just dial it in. And you even managed to make Margate sands look good - although the seals do help.

Thanks guys! Glad you liked the video. We wish you the best luck with your cruising plans and hope you get to London someday. There is a fair bit of current in the river so tide planning is important. With Distant Shores III we can motor at 8 knots so it wasn't so much of an issue. Cheers!

Great video! So why do they call it the Temms River when it is spelled Thames? Seem like I'm a year late. But better late than never. : - ) Scott W
@tomriley57904 жыл бұрын
The Thames, from Middle English Temese, is derived from the Brittonic Celtic name for the river, Tamesas (from *tamēssa), recorded in Latin as Tamesis and yielding modern Welsh Tafwys "Thames".

Thanks for the ride along! At 9:40 she looks heavy in the bow. Why do you think that is?
@Elsuntan6 жыл бұрын
Thought so too, where are the fuel tanks located on the yacht?
@DistantShoresTV6 жыл бұрын
Interesting observation Mark. I hadn't noticed it but now I see what you mean. FYI the tanks - both fuel and water are all located under the saloon right centrally as is the battery bank. We are having a stern solar arch made (its late inexplicably delayed) which might level her up a bit...
@captainmarkgray88566 жыл бұрын
Elsuntan, I was wondering the same thing after they filled their fuel tanks. I was wondering if the water tanks were empty and perhaps they would offset the fuel tank weight when full. It's just always best to have all of the heavy stuff as low and centered as and when possible to add to the keel effect. Then even empty or full or half full would not matter when it came to boat weight trimming. Imagine full fuel tanks in the bow and empty water tanks in the stern,,, bummer for sure. Anyway, I am sure their new yacht has it all dialed in for sure! All of the stuff is just not onboard and positioned to it's proper place yet.

Hi Sheryl and Paul, What i noticed on your new boat is, you have cahnged your anchor from Rocna to Ultra. Were not you pleased with Rocna ? Now i have an Ultra 27kg for my Jeanneau DS 49, and i am about to sell it for a new Rocna 33kg. May i ask why have you made this change ?
@DistantShoresTV6 жыл бұрын
I liked the Rocna but wanted to try out the ultra since it doesn’t have the rollbar. For our 48 I have the an Ultra 35 rather than the 27. But we can definitely say the Rocna 33 is a fine anchor and the right size for 49.
