Hybrid - Enjoy The Silence

In 2011 Hybrid, having remixed countless artists but never
having covered a song, asked their fans to help them by suggesting a suitable track. The band received almost a thousand ideas from fans ranging from Kate Bush to Nirvana to Joe Dolce!!... and after much deliberation, they decided upon Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy The Silence', a much loved track by all the band and one which they considered to be ideal to cover. They subsequently kept the track under wraps to be debuted on their Classics album. Hybrid decided to opt for a sci-fi electro lounge interpretation which has all the cinematic hallmarks of classic Hybrid.

WHY DON'T MORE PEOPLE KNOW HYBRID? Boy, I love this version so much more than original. Don't get me wrong, the original is awesome as well but this version imho perfected the atmosphere of the song - it's much darker, more complex, bitter-sweet and kinda sad, exactly how I imagine the song should sound... One of my favorites from Hybrid. Why they have to be so underrated is beyond me...

Let's not forget the original was written in 1990, way before VSTs and the musical technologies that these guys had in 2011. Nevertheless, this is definitely one of the better covers out there by far. I've always been a big fan of Hybrid and their art. A masterpiece within a masterpiece.

Alex, If you're referring to the final track of Sasha and Digweed's Expeditions, that was Matt Darey's Tekara mix of Mike Koglin's cover of Enjoy the Silence. Sasha and Digweed introduced that version to a very large audience, but they played no part in the producing or remixing that cover. Either way, the Tekara mix and the Hybrid cover are two really cool takes on this song.

I only just recently discovered that Truman & Wolff produced a Mike Koglin Silence breed, and it is the uniquely magnificent specimen that I have come to expect from their work. Of course, Matt Darey's Tekara mix of The Silence has also long been one of my favorites among the symphonic/progressive breaks variety.
