IMPORTANT NOTE: With latest version of Octane Distorted mesh UV got changed for better, now it actually make more sense. 1. Now you dont have to connect noise to translation to make rotating range.x/y work. 2. When you connect noise to translation, now you can directly distort it with Translation range.x/y, same goes for Scale and Rotation. 3. Values (at least in rotating range) seams to need bigger numbers to actually distort (before i needed around 0.1 now i need around 5.0) All of these is a good thing but ofc you need to keep it in mind while watching this tutorial!

Hi nojs!! Thanks

You can add the noise directly to the Offset value in the SinWave node to obtain the same effect.

But you can't do it with other nodes, and you cant distort scale and rotation as well.

Man, this is so cool! So, is this feasible with images as well?
@NojsGraphics2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes, with everything that have option to input projection! even animated textures, noises, etc. Same goes for input for distortion itself.

I was looking for a blur node, and endet up here. So, my question is; is there a blur node?
@NojsGraphics Жыл бұрын
Hey! Unfortunetly there is non really. Best you can do is using baking texture nodes on really low resolution, it kinda works like blur since Octane always blend texture pixels, so the lower it is the more blurred it will get technically so it works in some cases, and you need recompensate resolution by scaling it up with transform node. This is not even close to perfect method ofc. There might be as well some kind of blur OSL script for Octane, but you will need to do some research, and it might just simple not exist.

I actually quickly find this thru Octane Render group on Facebook: gist.github.com/anonymous/18de597ef146faeae1ea8393eec13587?fbclid=IwAR0uLLKciqfQqIpHl5S6M-u90NHSRbr9jGW2yjxN-sK0-S2T59mch5UgDig Its OSL script made by octane user which allows to add gaussian blur to texture, but its 5 years old, so its need to be tested if it still works.

@@NojsGraphics Hell yeah, als sorry: after 5sec I posted here, I found something in the official octane forum... my bet, sorry for your time, but thanky anyway! Gonna sub you. (Edit: but I do it allrady, my brain is slow today. :-(
