If those background viz at 1:04:00 are blend-mode of composites of different angles of Richard, then I would conclude it as being neat.

Why in this moment people talks more about Aphex's Berlin set than of this man? This is more exciting by far.
@Xishnik94
@Xishnik94 5 жыл бұрын
Because people don't know about him. Aphex blew up because he was one of the precursor granddaddies of IDM, braindance, and breaks and it naturally snowballed for him because he was a pioneer. This guy is leagues above Aphex in the technical, sound design, and overall depth of sound... but aphex was simply in the right places at the right times. Aphex is still a genius in his own right though.... But devine is in leagues with Qebrus, Vaetexh and any of the twistedtools/glitchmachines fellows that are just insane at making wild textures and aural landscapes to explore.

@uselessdata uselessdata have you even heard Autechre's current stuff? They're miles ahead of richard devine right now. Aphex Twin has found a retro niche with Syro that he'll probably stay in forever. But a lot of this stuff sounds like early 2000-era autechre.

@@Xishnik94super glad to hear someone mention qebrus he is one of my favorite sound designers of all time. May he rest in peace. Its a shame. I still don't really think you can compare them though. Aphex makes "music" while Richard(funny theyre both named Richard) does sound "design" Theyre both amazing and extremely different I am obsessed with glitchmachines and haven't heard of vaetexh or twistedtools so thanks for mentioning those

@@toottube To me some of Devine's music is incredibly memorable, I for one remember most of his sort/lave album (segments from that album pop into my head from time to time, given I've heard it a lot) and selected older works like plonked spectral and oxin2lin.

What the hell is a Loopy Cam? (read description).... I couldn't find anything on google but I loved those visuals (and obviously the master at work aswell)
@distprod
@distprod 5 жыл бұрын
The Loopy Cam is a creation from Bay Area visual artist, Tim Thompson. Here is the explanation from loopycam.com: "LoopyCam is a handheld live visual performance instrument used to accompany music and dance performances. It was created by Tim Thompson. LoopyCam 1 uses a standard game controller, and LoopyCam 2 uses a standard numeric keypad combined with a Pertelian LCD display. The camera is a standard security camera that automatically turns on infrared LEDs in low-light situations, so it works just fine even when there's no light. The buttons on the controller can be used to start and stop the recording and playback of up to eight video loops, as well as insert new recordings into the middle of an existing loop. All loops currently playing are overlaid in the projected image, and can be resized and moved around. FreeFrame plugins are used to mangle the camera image in various ways both before and after the looping is done. The buttons on the controller are used to select the visual effects and modify their parameters."
