Did you know that even some of the famous maestros were prone to procrastination? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was notorious for leaving compositions until the last minute. His overture to "Don Giovanni" was reportedly written the night before the opera's premiere. Gioachino Rossini, known for his opera compositions, often jokingly referred to his own laziness. "I was born lazy. I am no lazier now than I was forty years ago, but that is because I reached the limit forty years ago. You can't go beyond infinity." A master procrastinator, he composed his famous overture for "The Barber of Seville" just days before its first performance. Franz Liszt, despite being one of the most renowned pianists of his time, often struggled with the composition process, leading to delayed completion and publication of his works. Johannes Brahms kept delaying the completion of his works. His notorious self-criticism and tendency to destroy "imperfect" works led to sometimes taking up to 20 years to finish them. Franz Schubert was also notorious for his laid-back lifestyle. He would often spend his days composing music, enjoying the company of friends, and rarely focusing on performing or publishing his music. Despite this, he was incredibly prolific, composing over 600 songs, numerous symphonies, sonatas, and string quartets. Even the genius minds can fall into the trap of procrastination, yet still produce remarkable work under pressure.
