I have made two of these, and getting ready to remove the paint on my third. On both of the other two, there were small areas of the “exposed” epoxy where the paint was removed that became cloudy. But, it wouldn’t come off with alcohol or acetone and it didn’t really brighten up with the top layer of epoxy. The base layer was totally smooth and not sanded prior to spray painting. Do you think maybe rubbing too much with the acetone to get the paint off? Thanks!

You could use a stencil and hand cut. It may take longer
