That is a nice ,easy job to give you a noticeable difference in performance, and an easy Saturday job, providing it does'ent rain, one thing that will make a big difference to the finish is to spray etch primer,(from Halfords) on the cast iron distributor body before you spray it, that way the paint will never flake off, after degreasing it of course.

Yep, Seems like a nice little job. I might try the new rotor again and see if it is ok with it now. The paint has turned out really well this time, definitely need primer!

Greendot 319 : Yes you do need primer, but the standard primer is not much use on cast iron, you really need to give it a coat of etch primer, you can get this in an aerosol from Halfords, with cast iron,(which the body is) , or aluminium, you must have etch primer.

Hello Greendot 319, I'd Love it if you did a more detailed video about the rebuild of the distributor, kind of like the one about the carburetor. I had a hard time removing the pin from the collar. Hope you are doing well!

Hey greendot - in your great videos you mention referring to "the manual" quite often. Which reference manuals do you use in order to assist your day to day jobs and rebulding of parts? Thanks
@Greendot3196 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks glad you like them. There are a couple of manuals that are excellent for working on the jeep and they are available online for free. The TM9-1803, TM9-803, the universal service manual for jeep vehicles and any of the other applicable Tech manuals for specific components like TM9-1825B for the distributors but you have to be aware that there are inaccuracies in these manuals so visiting a website like the G503 forum is extremely useful! Cheers

Hello so you happen to have a video where you show the wiring of the spark plugs

I recently experience terrible sputtering, backfire and limited acceleration. I suspect it's the timing / condenser. Also when I pulled the rotor cap I noticed my rotor is pointed at 1 o,'clock vs 3 in your vid. Thoughts? Do you have a vid on setting the timing on a Willys 44?

Good but could have shown the actual strip down, I have a distributor to refurb but cannot get the shaft out, would have been better to see detailed rebuild as well, bit disappointing, anyone can shed light on this would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Hi, In a short video I cant really cover all parts of rebuilding as some of the steps are fairly straight forward and covered in the manual, these videos, I hope, clarify and fill in the blanks from the manual with my experience. The shaft is held on by a collar that sits on the shaft below the distributor body, it is locked to the shaft with a pin that needs to be driven out first. Once this is done the shaft slides out the top, if your shaft is seized in it will need heat applying to the body and lots of penetrating oil, then keep on repeating till it can be gently tapped out the top. cheers Matt

Hi greendot, a perfect jeep would be very nice but when would you use it ? You would be so upset every time you got a mark it, myself I prefer a shabby look but every thing being as correct as possible. It would be a boring world if we were all the same so go for it .. keep up the videos.. Roger of Norfolk . KBO. Ps I hope joe’s motor pool does well , I have used them and they were spot on.

Your right Roger, what is a 'perfect' jeep. I suppose really its a crated GPW for me thats never been run but then whats the point in that. I think mechanically 'perfect' is what I mean but then again can you achieve that with a jeep whilst retaining originality? Very hard to do, I think this jeep is a good balance.

You can’t use a German tool box to work on an americium Jeep. Of course it won’t work good.
