Manic depressive, anxiety and PTSD I’m not alone. Thank you David Draiman and Disturbed. My brothers, my sisters, my blood. ❤️

I've been listening to Disturbed since I was in high school but never really listened to the meaning of their music until recently. I almost lost my girlfriend this year to depression & suicide (I talked her out of it). I struggle w/ mental issues myself. I have their song the Light set as my gf's ringtone on my phone for that reason. I saw Disturbed perform in Orlando back in September & I loved how David took time to shed light on mental health issues.

Someone once said to me, live your life as though it is the very first day... in wonder and amazement, every experience new, appreciating all the little things that normally get taken for granted. Another beautiful way through the eyes of a child. The last day has a sense of ending, the first day is full of future. My take anyway. Another beautiful saying a friend of mine said to his wife as he was dying of brain cancer, he had a 4yo daughter who adored him. "Dont grieve that I am gone, celebrate that I was..." made me cry but so relevant to this song.

I lost my aunt earlier this year to suicide. She battled her depression and addictions for as long as I could remember. RIP auntie. You fought as hard as you could, and though you may be gone from this life, your spirit and the memories you gave to so many still live on.

Correct me if I'm wrong but David doesn't answer the question as to how Chris or Chester became depressed just that him and the guys also suffered, he says they don't choose? No one is forcing the drink into their bodies, 1 thing i find hypocritical, despite the amount of lives alcohol has taken and or ruined its still massively advertised world wide (with the exception of Muslim countries)
@utpalbasumatary3 жыл бұрын
People intoxicate themselves to forget about their troubles, to escape reality, my family went through a lot of financial troubles and my dad used to tell me that he drinks so much because it helps him forget about the stress and have good sleep. Honestly I dont know anything bout that because i have never intoxicated. And alcohol is advertised so much even tho it harms because it is one of the biggest businesses in the world. Evrything is about money bro.
@darkmvz61863 жыл бұрын
@@utpalbasumatary also part of the problem is that with drinking, the solution is never at the bottom of the glass/bottle, you might forget about the problem for a short time but you will remember again soon, at least there's another teetotaler

No one forced the first drink, the first drug- but once you become addicted, it's no longer a choice. And even the first one often comes as a way to escape your problems, or as a result of peer pressure. It was not their fault. You know, cancer can be caused by smoking, and the same thing you said can be said about cigarettes. So what, if a person who smoked gets cancer we should refuse treatment for them and say it's their fault? Lastly, we don't know if their alcohol and drug used is what caused their depression. True, substance abuse sometimes leads to depression, but it also works the other way around, and sometimes the 2 happen independently of each other. We should not jump to conclusions. I know you're trying to help, but by saying stuff like this you're only creating more stigma around mental health and deterring people from seeking help out of fear of being judged. I do agree with your point about how advertising alcohol is problematic though.

@@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid over the last 18 months, the world's mental health problems have opened up in a huge way giving myself and countless others the courage the share our issues, the guys are massive advocates for the battle against mental health struggles, as much as I have all the respect for David I have an issue with his and the general philosophy of "living every day as if its you're last" depending on your living/working situation it's not as easy for the majority of us, peace out good sir
