Ya know I love fuzz but between the two Moyer is certainly the better bassist don't get me wrong fuzz was intricate and technical but Moyer is overall a master at his craft man can solo his ass off I've been studying his work for years and have based my playing and sound off him and he's one of the most technical bassist I've ever heard and seen play live

Why? A bass solo does not need to be fast to be hard or cool. I can play Anesthesia easily, but playing more rythmic solos like this and Robert trujillos are harder according to me. You need way more sense of rythm for these kinds of solos.

@@one-minutemetal1290 well, it doesn't sound like a solo, but like a bass line, he repeated the same melodies over and over again. A solo, usually, have more notes, more technique and also the melodies must tell a story with a beginning, mid and end... This sounds just like he was playin' a song by himself... Solos can be improvised or written, but this doesn't sound like any option

Why are rock bass players so bad at solos? The only good ones I ever heard were Juan Alderete and Billy Sheehan. The rest have been just garbage.

Because they usually don't get any. They also don't need to play very complex basslines like in Funk or Beebop. This adds to them only really being able to do this.
