Disturbing Enemy Lore (Resident Evil 2)

I'm 41 as of 2024. I've been playing Resident Evil 2 since I was around 15 or 16. The remake is fantastic...but the original has etched something into my brain that has quite literally helped develop my artistic side. Every time I draw a picture or play guitar, buy a coop knife or jacket...I'm thinking Resident Evil 2. I even wear an Umbrella Corp t-shirt on stage with my band.

@jakebissell7930 Bro did you start with RE2 Remake? I still find Lisa Trevor to be much worse than Mr. X and the OG Nemesis is everything that Mr. X was trying to be in RE2 Remake. And really RE2 Remake Mr. X is just Jack Baker in a trenchcoat who has a larger zone to patrol.

No. As far as RE2 goes, the scariest (and I'm including how much of a threat they are) are the Ivy. Unsettling, one hit kill. Mr.X you just run away from and you can take at least 2 hits with full health. I never felt threatened, he's more of an inconvenience. Scariest and most threatening in the games I'd say goes to mutated Marguerite.

Mr. X is one of thr few things that actual terrifies me...i speed run this game sometimes and still hearing his boots and certain times I interact with him creeps me out. Love it!

I think irons was the most terrifying a real life monster and in the novel he was even thinking of “hurting” Claire thinking she was a spy, unfortunately that wasn’t her it was Ada and that his obsession with that stuff is creepy especially considering what he really does in his spare time

To be fair, it's the same exact question that I've had about considering how popular this animal is. Why haven't we seen any zombified or mutated cats. We had the Lions from outbreak but I mean like normal house cats. Actual theory is that because Japanese people love cats so much they won't include it because that would be so horrifying people wouldn't play the game. Be of that one canceled enemy for Palace of the Dead which looked too much like a Japanese Grandma and that's why they removed it because people had a hard time shooting it because it provided them of their grandma.

There probably are zombie cats, they just aren't seen. House cats aren't really all that well observed in most downtown city areas. I think you'd see more breeds of dogs. It's strange how many dobermans there are. I understand the RPD specifically employs dobermans, and that the Cerberus in the Spencer Mansion were also coincidentally dobermans, but surely a zombified family of four's labradoodle would have been zombified too, no?

These games are meant to unnerve and disturb us, so a zombie cat wouldn't be out of the question from that front. They aren't deified animals in Japan or anything like that. The real world answer is probably just that the development teams don't find that cats would make the best enemies in a survival horror game. Same goes for rats, too.

I'm not 100% sure, I know more about vocalizations than RE, but I believe the plant wouldn't need to control the vocal cords of the zombies, because any clicking sounds are made using the tongue on the roof of the mouth, and don't use an exhalation of air. Been loving these remakes, I think they add a lot :)

I believe the games have lore that states the original virus caused some undead to turn into "Crimson heads", while the strain that mutated from the version released by mistake in Raccoon City would create "Lickers" from extreme mutations. Two slightly different viruses, wildly different variables in extreme changes.

We'll I suppose Mr Xs mutated form looking the way it does in the remake makes sense, when you consider the fact that he was caught in a couple of explosions caused by the labs self destruct system as opposed to falling into a vat of molten lava like in the original Resident Evil 2.

While the BOWs of the game are scary, Irons is by far the scariest monster because he is a corrupt cop who has done many shady things and covered it all up much like how cirrupt cops do so in real life. He is human but in a game where you are hunted by zombies and BOWs it's better to face them than be in a room with someone like Irons.

The random and asymmetrical mutation makes a lot more sense in my opinion especially since Mr. X was literally being bombarded pre-transformation where Im guessing his face and right arm were the ones sustaining the most damage and therefore the virus only mutates those parts. It just makes it more realistic.

Isn't the whole point of the tyrant and limiter that after taking so much damage his t virus goes into overdrive due to the limiter being taken off thus getting and increased mutation and regeneration buff. It still feels like lazy design to me. I think the devs didn't want to have to do the extra work on a modern tyrant transformation.Same thing with the whole Nemesis transformation. Another example the Mr x that William killed still had part of his limiter so that could explain why it didn't transform.

I loved the remakes but I just don't get why they cut so many infected out of the game when I first heard they were remaking 2 and then 3 I would of thought they would of added the infected that was cut from the original game not cut even more enemy's and I was disappointed that the game was so short and also I'd love the with all resident evil games is to have the same as resident evil 5 not the game play but the gun upgrades be able to buy different guns having different guns of the same type and having somewhere to store all your stuff aswell as keeping it all for new game plus I loved it I m become a hoarder I loved being able to upgrade my guns and continue that to my next game

Why are zombie dogs so agile and quick? They're canine analogues to zombie humans, aren't they? Logically, wouldn't zombie dogs be slow and lumbering? Instead they're more or less as agile and abled as normal, typical dogs. The only pyschological differences between zombie dogs and typical dogs seems to be their aggression and hunger. They even apparently still hunt in packs, as uninfected dogs do.

Cvx needs it more. There is some Points in cvx where you can mess up a whole game if you don't save right after tyrant on the plane and what you brought with you. And it can fix its pacing . And because I want to use that ak47 in a remake style. Cvx has my favorite guns in the franchise especially the dual wielding pistols and sub machine guns
