87k miles!! It's a young pup!! I've got 296k miles on mine--I have to spray bolts with PB blaster every day for weeks before attempting any removals!! :-D

yeah she's a young pup in a old body but she a great first jeep. i have big plans for this jeep. i cant wait to get it out on the trail and test her out. what have you done to your jeep to help it last that long? Thanks for checking out my video.

Nothing more than regular service. Fluids every 30k mi. Oil changes every 3mos. I check the oil and coolant at every fill up. Nothing really special. In the last 3yrs, I've had to replace the clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinger, alternator and starter--the starter looked like the OE 1995 part. :-D

Took front and rear track bars off and it set my body crooked and it turned my steering wheel to the right a good bit. I definitely put mine back on.

joey martin Hello sorry to hear that. Is your jeep a yj or tj. If it’s a yj you shouldn’t have any issues with doing this. However the yj should never be removed because it’s what centers the axle.

joey martin It sounds like something might be worn out. I have had it off since posting this video, and never looked back. These parts shouldn’t have any relation to your suspension, except that it hinders your down word travel, and help center your axle.

Crane 2005 I had to jack up the left rear wheel about 2ft to get the track bar to line back up to put it back on. Buddy of mine took his off and the exact same thing the whole body is crooked.

mine doesnt have track bars or sway bars... I'm gonna put the front away bar back on for safer highway travel... but for 3 years and multiple trips on the interstate, I didnt even know my jeep was supposed to come with one.. previous owner cut it out!

Intolerant American I have a front sway bar with removable mounts if your interested.

Does it ride better with the track bar off nobody answers that question when they take it off

So on the road you won’t feel a difference, but off road you will notice you can get more travel in the front and rear when you remove them both. Yj,s don’t need track bars because your axle is centered on your leaf springs. If you own a TJ Do not do this because you wouldn’t have anything centering your axle. Basically the track bar limits the drop of your axles because it actually fights against your leaf springs. I noticed about 2” to 3” more drop all the way around. While your under there I recommend removing your sway bar as well. Thanks for checking out my video. Please like and subscribe. Remember it’s built not bought.

the jeep cj7 don't have any track bar , i don't see why should be any problem with the jeep yj , i only have a track bar at front on my jeep yj the rear axle i don't have any since i have a 8.8 rear axle

CHAPITA-4WD That’s the same conclusion I came to. The only reason jeep added it was because there was a lot of roll overs on the Cj. So they lowered the yj and added that bar.

Chase Becker Thanks for checking this video out. I take it you have coil springs on your set up. I’m not sure if you can remove this on your set up. It would be very dangerous because that’s the only thing centering your axles. On mine I have the leaf springs centering my axle. That’s why I can remove it. If I was you I would invest in some sway bar disconnects. I have Seen some guys setting up a x instead of the cross bar, but I’m not quite sure how they set it up. you might want to try a 4 link set up. that might get you what you want.

ditching this track bar and the sway bar entirely will help it out SUBSTANTIALLY!!!!! IMO because when you ditch the track bar the wheels line up front and rear (true to leaf springs) and you're able to do the alignment at home with string, get more down travel and articulation.. I noticed that you didn't see a difference in the track bar removal but i see a huge benefit for the at home alignment.

Juan Cano Jeep originally put it on because they were having issues with the CJ jeeps rolling over, and they wanted to cover there ass. so they lowered the YJ and stiffened the springs and added sway bars and track bars. All of which wasn't needed if you drove your jeep like a jeep and not a race car. If you plan on doing this please do it at your own risk.

fastfoodfred2 I actually removed my sway bars and front and rear track bars, and it actually rides really nice. However if you remove the sway bar you will notice more body roll but it's not to bad. In my opinion I like having the sway bars removed because you don't need to get out and disconnect them. As for the track bars you really don't notice that they are missing. Took them off? Wow ... pretty important piece. Ever wondered why even the high flex aftermarket suspensions keep the track bar? Because you need it. This thing must wander all over the road. Hope you don't put your loved ones in it. Mind blown

Brian Hyatt Actually you are correct when you have coil springs like the tj, but when you have leaf springs like the yj you really don't need them. Look at most older leaf sprung vehicle. Most of them never had them. All they are there for is to help center a axel on a coiled sprung vehicle. In a leaf sprung vehicle the leaf springs help center your axel. But please do it at your own risk. It actually hinders flex on a leaf sprung vehicle that's why I removed them and so many others have to. Ever wonder why millions and millions of pickup trucks that have leaf springs in the rear don't have track bars? That would be because leaf springs do a fine job of keeping the axle in alignment. Even after the "too precautious" era of the YJ's with the addition of unnecessary track bars, not many - if any - other leaf-sprung vehicles went for track bars as a 'fix' for anything.

Leafs don't need them... First thing I did to my YJ was remove them! I'm now SOA with 1 ton axles and 39's, still no issues.
