I particularly like your suggestion of summer dresses. Here in California, no one seems to wear them, even though it is HOT! So I have decided to try wearing them more often, out to lunch or at casual family gatherings. My style is not boho, but I have found some beautiful simple solid-color dresses at places like Ann Taylor, and have put some effort into accessorizing them. Your suggestion of jewelry is a welcome reminder. May I say, however, that part of the reason you look good in almost everything because of your always-beautiful hair, makeup, and posture - a lesson to all of us!

It’s surprising, isn’t it, so many people here in California wear those hot, sweaty gym outfits in summer? I’m always the coolest and most comfy person around in my linen dresses.🙂

I can’t imagine wearing jeans in hot weather. I live in linen pants, shorts, and skirts. On a recent trip to Croatia, I noticed many women (locals and tourists) in colorful cotton dresses and flowy light weight pants - they all looked chic and cool.

This is the first season that I bought a few seersucker piece. Perhaps I has something as a child. I was quite pleased that the material gave such help from the heat & humidity. I suggested to my husband that he might also like it.

It’s 95 degrees with 80% humidity. So it’s all Lilly Pulitzer all summer. Forget jackets even made of linen. It’s hard to look chic when you are sweating like a pig.

Thank you, Beth! I love the longer dresses and skirts. It feels so feminine like I'm expressing my true self. You can load up with jewelry and other accessories. No one wears dresses and skirts much anymore. I'm 68, remembering when you HAD to wear a skirt or dress to school. When they said you could wear slacks all girls came in jeans, but it was a farming community. Denim is supercool too. Denim jacket with a long skirt, linen pants, etc. I wore out all my jeans working on this house. Still love them, just need to feel like a lady again. I like the options that you discussed today.

Hello Beth. I am a huge linen fan for the summer. In fact, I am wearing a pair of navy linen Bermuda shorts and a sleeveless linen top. I also wear more shorts and dresses for the summer. I recently purchased a pair of Crop Wide Leg Jeans-Montecito Wash from Talbots and they are so cute and comfortable and the fabric feels so light (89% cotton; 9% polyester; 2 % spandex) and is just right for summer. I'm wearing flowers palazzo pants, dresses for sure. I also were the t shirt dresses I go from gap You can cover with a fishnet look. I kick around in shorts and got a great flowy jumpsuits. I'm great for summer.

Cotton is actually too warm for me in summer, especially on my torso, so linen it is. I love it, it’s the only fabric that can keep me cool and dry when it’s 100+F. The ironing is a pain when it’s hot, so I finally got a full linen summer wardrobe for our four-month minimum California summer season. I love dresses best, but also have a selection of trousers, skirts, shorts and tops, too. I also have linen blazers in my basic colors, for cool restaurants, theaters, mornings, etc. I just wash the items as I need to, then I can batch the ironing, if necessary, to do in the cooler weather (I don’t have central AC). I start out every summer with a fully-ironed, ready-to-wear summer wardrobe, it’s great. I iron carefully, then just don’t stress about the wear creases, they’re impossible to prevent, so why worry? I even found a great pair of white linen jeans this summer, too, from Poetry.

I’m a shorts girl in the hot and humid Midwest! And linen is so nice to wear. I love the idea of dresses, I just don’t gravitate towards them but I’ll keep that in mind for next summer. I purchased some Monica Vinader last year and have been very pleased with the quality.

No one is more discouraged than me! But it can be hard to find items that are still in stock this time of year as brands are transitioning from summer to fall and summer stock is low.

Hi Beth, I, too have put away my jeans for the summer. I love Talbots related chinos with the folded up hem, really nice cotton fabric. With them I like their linen shirts. Some nice sandals and I'm ready for anything. 😊 love your videos, thanks Beth.

@BethDjalali I wear jeans 365 days a year (minus a day or 2). I prefer a 98% cotton 2% spandex blend. I don't get overheated. Sandals, sneakers. Usually, an ankle length. Vintage wash or dark wash. I have a very extensive top wardrobe. Something for every occasion.
