I really want to change my beige headliner in my 2022 Toyota 4Runner to black suede, nothing is wrong with my current headliner besides the color. I’m wondering if it would be a total mistake to just glue and place right on top of the current headliner keeping everything or if that would be a total disaster…

When I did it I removed the factory foam and replaced it so it lost some structural integrity. Plus I ended up leaning towards an OEM+ look so that’s what I’m going for with this!

Hope you don’t live in a hot climate in the summer I used the same kind of Swede as you did and it looked great till this summer here in Ms caused it to let go and sag I have ordered a quart of lokweld high heat spray adhesive. I saw a guy on KZbin who was a professional and he said lokweld is best Good video though!

Black goes to bare metal anywhere for ground. Red taps into the break light wire which turns on with the switch and yellow connects to the break light wire that causes the breaks to glow when you press on the breaks

I have no idea if you or someone with more information on the subject will respond, but is this a permanent fix or another 10 year fix. I have 04 Dakota extended cab. I bought it new and about 10 years ago it fell. It looks like you went straight to the old headliner material which I can't do because roughly 1/8th of the headliner material has dropped.

I have yet to attempt this, but from what it looks like, you are going to cover the original material anyway. So use the adhesive to glue foam or the headliner material back, cut it and spray inside the cut and the headliner.(since you are going to cover it anyway it will not show and ensure a strong bond)

It’s the same principal with a completely failed headliner. The difference would be that you need to remove the old headliner and clean all the old foam backing off before you lay a new headliner. Most of the fabric that’s sold as automotive headliner material will come with the foam backing already attached to the fabric. If it’s failing to begin with, this video is not the proper way to go about the repair for any who are confused
