This feels like the Mario Kart version with the turtle shells and power ups. Looks like everyone having fun though.

I am afraid this is not terribly good coxing by the Pembroke cox. He was on the inside of the racing line as he approached Oriel, so he should have been anticipating having to drop the pressure immediately, or even easy for a few seconds to get on the other side of the Oriel stern, and therefore be in a position to clear the racing line immediately after the bump. Alternatively, if he had so much overlap, he should have made the bump sooner. Going to light immediately, however, should have been all that was needed to get clear after the bump, and off the racing line. After all, Pembroke had already been bumped at the one minute point in the video, so there was a good gap back to the next boat. From 1:37 to 1:57 he exercised little judgment at all.

Exactly. What in the world was that mess we were watching? That trailing shell coming up on the port side almost hit blades from the main boat in the video. I did 2 plus seasons and never saw anything like this. Super narrow venue. The only thing I can guess is that the main boat, the one that almost stuck its bow into the port side oars, and the one that they caught, were all returning to the one end of the canal, while a live race was coming up behind them. Looks like poor channel traffic management if that is what is going on. You'd think the course would be cleared before a race started.
