Maybe I missed it, but shouldn't you reference the rig instead of just opening it? So you don't accidently damage the rig and etc.

@Learning_Maya Great Point!! Thank you for bringing this up. Typically if you have many different animation scenes it’s always better to reference in the rig obviously if you update anything it will be updated for all scenes. I don’t typically do this in my videos for the sake of simplicity. If you are just learning and you only have one scene 🎬 it’s absolutely fine to import the character directly. If you are working with a team importing directly would also not be a good idea. -------------- Reference is generally recommended for: • Large projects where rigs might undergo changes. • When working in a team where multiple people need to use the same rig setup across different scenes. -------------- Import might be better for: • Small projects or one-off animations where the rig won't change. • When performance is a critical factor and the overhead of references is too high.

@@uistudios Thanks for the fast reply! And the explanation! I am looking forward to the next video, I started learning Maya 3 days ago so this video is perfect. I want to specialize in Animation, so it would be cool if you also did some basic animation concepts? Like the 'bouncing ball w stretch and squash', 'pendulum swing' and an obstacle course? Also the Graph Editor (I have read that many people are afraid of it, haha, but it can save you a lot of time if you are efficient with it), and the different Tangents. Also the term 'spline animator vs stepped'. I am looking forward to be part of your growing community!

@@uistudios Thank you! I’m excited to dive into your videos on these topics. In Part 2, will you be covering the entire process, starting from reference and blocking, then moving to spline (polishing), and finally rendering or playblasting? I’d also love to hear your thoughts on stepped vs. spline animation, some animators mix them. Looking forward to seeing more of your animation workflow in Part 2!

@ each one of those is it’s own little universe, covering all of that in a single video will not be possible :) but let me save this comment and we can cover these in the future videos! Part 2 is more of a sample to get people to be introduced to keyframe animation…
