We trained like.that in 2003 in Ft. Bragg N.C. before getting deployed to Kuwait providing Security in Merchant Marine vessels for the MSC in charge of Force Protection Teams as a M2 heavy barrel .50 cal machine Gunner while serving in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard and I did my job and earned a Army Achievement achievement medal for that assignment 😊😊

I wonder if they had to do what we did oh so long ago? I was a combat medic in the 10th Mountain Division “light infantry”. This was part of our waterproofing training. Going off diving board simulates out on a low to no light night patrol and walking off a cliff or embankment of some kind. We had to hit the drink, pop up, and holding that heavy ass “rubber duck” M-16 over our head in 1 hand & sidestroke to shore (which was the length of the Olympic size pool). talk about exhausted! I passed. I asked instructor if they passed me because I was the only black guy who could swim? They died laughing because that never entered their minds. 😂

All Combat Airborne units have to pass this regularly. We at least my units at Ft. Bragg had to in 1999-2013. You have to float for (forgot the exact time) about 45mins. Learn to make a flotation device out of your trousers. It was a fun class.

Water Survival Training wasn't conducted in Basic Combat Training and unless your MOS was water or Aviation specific, you didn't perform it. I didn't conduct WST until 1999, I went in in 1989, and it was at of all places Fort Irwin, CA, THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT!!! LOL 😂😂😂

Very nice training, for different situations which can happen in real life: diving with their firearms, even jumping from the water so high, swimming while handcuffed, etc. US military forces are the front-runner in the world. Combine them with the Filipino and Israeli soldiers, then you have best military forces! 😯🤩🙋🏻‍♀️🇵🇭❤️🇺🇸🙏🏼

I did talk some shit in 2018 on Instagram. Earned some enmity by doing so, it seems, here and there. I did state that I had advantage over people with military experience. They were all trained according to a methodology, thus their responses would be consistently more predictable. Nothing against training in groups. But in my particular case, my adherence to my own training regimen and doctrine would end up proving itself to be a key component of my success as an amateur volunteer domestic counterinsurgency enthusiast. Couldn't have done that without learning a shitload from all of you guys that I was then able to alter to suit my particular needs. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.

Wish I could join but I got two minor drug charge felonies from 10 years ago 😢 hopefully that will change soon. I see the army recruiting numbers is super low and my guess is that it won’t go up from here with the generation we have now. I remember when I served in the Army back in the 80s....you can use your BDU pants as a great flotation device!.in extreme emergency you take them off,make sure buttons are all tied,tie a knot with strings in each legs ends,hold waist band with two hands and hold them up,then swiftly make a fast motion like scooping insects with a catching net but you catching air..the waist band is underwater and the air trapped will inflate pants legs like two air bags.make a knot hold on waist underwater and hold on..the pants legs will be inflated and above water

at 51yr old not having the pleasure of being able to serve. I honestly would like to see more military style training techniques. maybe I can use it in my everyday life, to help me stay more fit at my age, and still be useful asset to my family if shtf or teotwawki.
