Cuz they don’t know the struggle behind the camera, nights where you think you might not succeed when you constantly think you wasted your time when people doubt saying you chose the wrong path your own family not supporting you. And this goes for ALL CAREER paths not just show biz. You don’t know. All you can do is try. And yes it sucks seeing others succeed and your still here but that’s life. You’ll eventually succeed when your time comes. Just DON’T NOT DO ANYTHING. Like for me I want to open my own company after I do medical but I haven’t even started yet and my mom, siblings are telling me no don’t waste your time. Do a regular job. I can’t do that. Cuz if I do all I’ll have is regret my whole life. Like if I fail at least I know I tried. So this is YOUR life do it for YOURSELF ☮️🙋🏻♀️ Okay thanks for my TED talk bye 👋🏻

Jessi's a role model for people who doubt themselves because people call them 'weird' or that they're 'different'. Accepting who you are, understanding yourself and just being yourself is important, it's okay being 'Unapologetically yourself', as long as you don't cause harm to anyone and that you're happy, then it's okay and good.

Jessi surviving in korea is just so inspiring, I know that she's still receiving the hates that she's been receiving ever since, for breaking "standards" but she still continued ruling her life and being herself. And when Jessi also mentioned that she's not weird but just different and 🆑 also said the same thing in an interview back then (not sure about the exact date but it's been years passed) that being different isn't wrong and being different is okay. Jessi also mentioned she doesn't want to be labeled as a rapper or whatsoever instead she wants to be called as an artist and it reminds me so much of 🆑 too because she also mentioned in an interview back in 2014 or something. ‘Refund sisters’ means that women who are not easy to reject. Refund is hard in Korea, it’s kind of culture. We have to explain why I want to refund. When I came to US, I realize it’s too easy to refund, this country. It was a culture shock. People even don’t ask the reason why I want to refund. They just refund. Jessi looks comfortable because she speaks English. She talks lots of behind story that I’ve never heard. It was fun and good.

I got a refund at Everland.
@PMariaM-rk4jr3 жыл бұрын
Judging by the mv & song alone, I thought Refund Sisters were try-hards & intentionally faking the badass concept. Refund Sisters is really a confusing concept, the mv & song make little to no sense. Not easy to reject for whom, please? And why does it sound like complaining/whining? Your interesting, social context makes me think that the reason getting refunds is difficult is bcz there is a sort of guaranteed trust in Korean goods, not so much in US. So asking for refunds, can sound like unnecessarily making a fuss or whining. Plus there is the existing stigma of women who are always complaining & "Dont touch me" sounds like a rich, uncultured woman who is throwing a childish tantrum. The message the listener gets is that if you reject Refund Sisters, well then you are stupid for rejecting them (i.e. not doing what they say). I dont know whether it was Lee Hyori or MBC who decided on this concept. It looks like the concept was made to accomodate Jessi who seemed to be still renowned for her Senunni character, rather than a solo artist. Although they may have meant well, in the end Refund Sisters is a farce & makes powerful women a joke. Especially disappointing at a time when Seoul's 'feminist' Mayor committed suicide rather than going to jail. Also, maybe MBC/LeeHyori should have translated Jessi's past English lyrics to understand Jessi's Ssenunni & Unpretty Dreams. I was really looking forward to Hyori's GG, but this left me disappointed. It looks like Hyori also had doubts over the song, while recording it. Maybe people were glad just to have 4 legendary singers back on screen, but there should have been more thought over the concept, mv & song without trying to 'adjust' to Jessi. Maybe Hyori was trying to understand Jessi's true personality & instead of having a personal chat with her, she made this GirlGroup on a variety show to see if Jessi was going behave uncultured. Anyway, Jessi took the challenge in the right spirit. Her part in the song stands out for being real, in the American sense (Her Gyopo Oppas also helped her with the lyrics) & to a Korean audience, they will feel that Jessi's badass attitude has Hyori's approval as Hyori is the Leader. I like that Hwasa & UJH brought emotion in their parts. Hyori's parts are tolerable only because we know her. Anyone else trying to sing Hyori's parts...RIP to your career. Refund Sisters really made me realise how important it was for Jessi to have a well-respected, Korean sunbaenim's approval on TV inorder to finally be accepted by the Korean public at large. This was NOT part of Hyori's or Yoo Jaesuk's plan for Jessi, but Jessi understood the larger picture. The rest of the cast & staff on the show never really understood the significance of Refund Sisters. They look lazy, petulant & blank. Jessi is so refreshing & inspiring to watch. After the success of Refund Sisters, singers & entertainers are thinking that Yoo Jae Suk owes them similar success. If only they knew the true reality behind Refund Sisters.....

@@PMariaM-rk4jr I thought Refund Sisters and the song was more of a joke, like a mock, a satire, a fun and not serious thing. So I didn't and don't take it seriously 🤷🏻♀️
@PMariaM-rk4jr3 жыл бұрын
@@MadCheshireHat Korean news lauded refund sisters for being feminist, defying ageism & setting a new paradigm for KPOP GirlGroups. MBC did not know that reporters would write pieces like this? Do they not teach feminism in Korea? And are MBC/How Do YouPlay run by male chauvinists? Jessi was the only woke member who looked bewildered by the hypocrisy of Jimi Yu & Refund Sisters. The Show also looked quite smug to know that an international audience was showering Refund Sisters with praise for being feminists, etc. by reading English comments below the video. To me, it looks like the entire cast & crew pulled off a successful con-fooling both Korean press, international audience & Jessi-by making them believe in a norm-breaking GirlGroup, that to them was all a joke, a fantasy. It's disgusting & Lee Hyori knows it was all a mockery. They should have atleast told Jessi that it was going to be a joke. That they didn't, goes to show that they don't trust Jessi because she is a foreigner. I did not enjoy watching Jessi being "teased", basically bullied by YJS aka "Oh, its Jimi Yu, not the national MC YJS who is teasing you". It perpetuates the stereotypes of not trusting Asians who will stab you in the back. I have Korean friends & they cautiously tell me that watching Korean shows & understanding KPOP music industry can put off gullible foreigners from appreciating music & entertainment, entirely.
