Is the rear brakelight supposed to stay on like that? Looks like brakes are always on but when you hit the brakes never gets brighter or dimmer

@@thebeddoctor4273 that’s the running light. These bikes have a great tail light.

@@thebeddoctor4273 if your talking about your own bike the rear brake light switch may be out of adjustment. Try unplugging it and see if it goes out. Then unplug the front one.

I had a new CX500 when I was studying at the Presidio of Monterey in the early 80's. Many great memories of weekend trips up and down Pacific Coast Highway... I'm in Texas now, retired, and thinking about getting a bike to play with. This would be a touring upgrade to what I had, and a great nostalgic experience. What is the black plastic thing between the run switch and throttle? I just picked one up and it has that but seems broken so i dont know what its supposed to do? I was going to just rip it off since its attached to nothing. But how should it be?

Just picked one of these up, it was running on one cylinder so I tore it apart and found some missing stuff in the carbs. Put it back together and tried to start it and it hardly turns over and backfires. Is this due to having a super start battery and not an agm like your mentioning?

It’s more than likely a bad starter motor. As long as the battery is new and is the correct one. Source a starter from a CX500 or a GL500 they have a easier life.
