Diversion courts allow some to bypass jail

Law enforcement is increasingly considering alternatives to traditional prosecution, as research shows a more restorative approach to justice reduces repeat offenses and may be more beneficial to victims and whole communities. Diversion courts employ rigorous yet supportive practices for individuals with drug or mental health issues and now for veterans, as well, who sometimes have special circumstances that derive from their time in the military.
