Nice tip, but I prefer to use large nail cutters. Dont need the file then, clean edge cut. Carry in the save a dive kit.

Just got my dive cert a few months ago and I’ve been a little obsessed. Thanks for all of your videos they’ve all been so helpful! I wish I had seen some of them before going with PADI OWD (to be fair I didn’t know other certs existed..) Would you recommend in the future taking AOW with another group, like SSI? I myself use a nail clipper for a clean cut after I cut the zip tie, I think you should try that for next time. 🇺🇲👌🏼

I use flush cutter (or flush side cutter). These cut through the cable tie with leaving the sharp edge i.e. it cuts it flush. Fairly cheap online. Not carried by all hardware shops.

Use flush cutters to trim excess and you don't have to use a file, good video. 😁

I noticed your regulator is attached via a swivel - what are your thoughts on its use? Comfort vs supposed additional failure point?

Don’t use a single spanner or wrench to remove a 2nd stage, always use two. One on the reg and one on the hose. If you use one you will move orientation of the 2nd stage internals.

You can get flush wire cutters and you won't have the sharp edge. Klein Tools D275-5

Do you have any experience with te scubapro reusable clamps? I've got some regs that came with it, looks OK, i don't know if there might be any cons on the long run.

Yes! I've never been able to successfully reuse them! I always seem to break them taking them off.

If you cut the zip tie with a sharp single blade tool (box cutters work well) you won't need to file that end

I saw a technique to use a length of line to tie a mouthpiece instead of a cabletie. No knob, no sharp edges, no additional tool required beyond the knife and spool I already carry. Admittedly, maybe too fiddly to tie with stiff trembling hands in cold weather.

Yeah, a cable tie is faster and easier. But in a pinch, twine or cave line works.

Cut zip-tie. Take off old mouthpiece. Put on new mouthpiece. Put on new zip-. Voila!
