@christurner234010 ай бұрын
I got a set a few weeks ago. Twenty dives later, I like them. Lots of power on the surface, which is great and much needed for towing tired divers and getting where you need to go. My sense is they're not so good for tight spaces and reverse. Too much angle of attack. I hear there's a 'technical' blade to switch out, thingamajig, which I'll probably get eventually. I like these fins out of the box for power. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Bob for another great video! I have a couple comments. My original fins I purchased and started scuba with...were jet fins. I loved the heritage and people's overall love for the design and durability. For me...they were great learning and shore diving lakes in Michigan. My issues started with the bulk of them for travel...and the biggest drawback was...the lack of venting in the foot pocket. When trying to remove the fins at the boat ladder in Jamaica....on a rough seas day...it was TERRIBLE!! And...to be honest...dangerous! The Super Novas came out...and I watched some video reviews...I was sold. The abundance of venting in the foot pocket made removal a now non issue. The break down for travel is a great plus!! I just returned from a trip to Cozumel...and the fins were all they were said to be!! Your personal years of experience and insight into the pluses and minuses of gear are priceless! Keep up the great work on videos...it is greatly appreciated!!👍👊👌

Hey Michael ! Thanks for posting your comments and review. Super important that others share their experiences. Just day before yesterday, I had an instructor asking me about fins. What he was doing was to have all his students buy Tech Fins. Of course I asked why ?? He explained he's heavy into tech diving and wanted his students to learn the " _right_ " way to kick. I asked, " _what is the RIGHT way_ ", he replied " _Frog kicking_ ". Hummmm I responded. Now I like Tech style fins, I have a pair of RK3's, but I don't use them all the time. For me fins, wet/dry-suits, masks, BCDs etc. are tools. *If you can,* use accordingly. I drive a small suv, best tool for my daily general needs and uses. Dive gear really should apply the same way. - One doesn't use a college level physics calculator ( do they still use those ?) to teach kindergarteners to add & subtract... Yes I know computers/tablets. _Anyway, hanging on a boat ladder trying to get a fin off is something challenging, especially if the boat is dancing in the waves.. great example Mike !_ Sorry for the wordy reply .. Regards Bob C

I have these fins and I can honestly say I love them. I really appreciate the holes in the foot pocket. I struggle getting fins on and off and those holes makes us so easy. When you want to just leisurely cruise you can do it with any kick. When you want power to really move and move fast you just kick harder. I’m still new to diving, but I’ve used these fins in 7 dives so far and they’ve held up great. Really an amazing fin. I don’t regret the high price tag of $300 dollars at all.

The ragged fin you show at beginning is precisely why I do not buy composite fins. They separate where the different materials bond. The single (mono) material type (including rubber), are the fins that are going to last you 20+ years.

Thanks for the video! Got the Seawing supernovas recently. Dove with seawing nova gorillas before these. Went with the gorillas instead of the of the normal seawings for better frog kicks with the stiffer blade. Was skeptical about these before I got them, but no problems so far with any fin kick technique. Much easier on the muscles too.

Excellent presentation as always Bob!! When I bought my Scubapro Go Sport fins a couple of years ago, I was so impressed with them that I put away all of my others fins and not use them at all since then (Mares Quattros, Aqua Lung, etc.) and now that I got my Scubapro SuperNovas few months ago, I put away the Go Sport and been using the Supernova exclusively in all of my diving since I got them. Awesome very capable fins. Can be used for technical as well as recreational diving. My only complaint is that the XL size they have in the SuperNovas can barely fit my size 11 boots. I don't think that they will fit bigger size boots or big drysuit boots. I hope that Scubapro will come out with size XXL foot pockets for these fins.

Seriously considering these fins, how do they compare to your other favorites , like the nova gorilla, rk3’s ? Or even the switch pro that you found too stiff?
@DiversSupplyYT10 ай бұрын
Hey Chino, For me they are better than my regular or Gorilla Novas, I prefer the RK3 is tight places or pool work. Switch Pro's not so much. Thanks for your question. Bob C
@chinovillanueva863010 ай бұрын
Do you think the super novas give good power during frog kicking even in a current ? Do they feel stiffer or about the same stiffness as the gorilla? Really love my tusa hyflex switch , very easy frog kick , but need to switch to a flutter when in a current for more power :)
@AviMus82 Жыл бұрын
You mention spacers. Can I use them for the supernovas as well? If yes what exactly are they, what are they called, and where do I get them?
@DiversSupplyYT Жыл бұрын
The Spacers are located on the fin. If you lift the buckle there are three holes that allow you to adjust the straps giving you "more or less space" for your foot in the foot pocket.

Can you expand on the difference between monprene and monoprene? I can find references to each but no comparison. Is it a flexibility and grip difference? I’m very curious! Thanks!
@DiversSupplyYT3 ай бұрын
Monprene® elastomers - Are composed of saturated styrene block copolymer rubbers and thermoplastic olefin resins. Ideal for applications requiring stretch, flexibility and soft-touch feel. Monoprene resin - Is a thermoplastic elastomer, looks and performs like rubber with lighter weight. Grip tends to go to Mono goods.

Hi Ahmad, I too own the Go Sports BUT when I dive the ocean I shift to my Novas Gorillas. I have both Regular Novas and Gorillas. I'd be concerned that over time the connectors could get loose and risk coming out during a dive. Also seems hard to find individual components for this "modular" system. Is the open heel suitable for barefoot as the Go Travel is?
@Daniel_Megaptera Жыл бұрын
There is a barefoot pocket provided by Scubapro for this fin which is pretty cool

@@Daniel_MegapteraI know that. But what I am asking is if the open heel pocket is suitable for barefoot the way the Scubapro Go Travel is, which lets go dive without boots but still have the bungee strap. I've always had issues with the heel of full foot fins tearing. SP will usually replace but that doesn't help when you're on a LB in Asia. And again, I haven't found just the blades for sale.
