Amazing demonstration on the handling, I wouldve never thought Peonies would be such sturdy plants they always seem and are described in a tender manner but I suppose it must be because of the gorgeous blooms. Thank you for the vid!

I'm about to sell my parents' house where my mother had the most beautiful peonies - I hope it won't sell until I can go divide some and bring them to my own house. Thank you for this video!

Or you could ask the new owner if it would be ok with him/her if you could go back for dividing the plant. I know I would be fine with it, especially since it reminds you of mom :)

I know it's late but sometimes you can exclude the plants from the sale and many new owners won't mind as they will look to make their garden their own

I moved and things got hectic. I forgot to dig mine out & they were in the family for over 100 years. Beautiful burgundy color. ☹️ Lucky you.

@Svetlana Dascaliuc, Hi, How did the Scarlet O'hara divide go?? I have divided 1 plant into 6 with success before. I just bought 5 plants from Adelman's, we're trying to find a good spot in the yard. Wish me luck too! ;-)

@@StephRenee812 On a good note mine came up one is a yellow hybrid the other herbaceous, the hybrid looks GREAT for just starting out it has three nice sized shoots, and these were bare roots, The Herbaceous had two sets of two small shoots one set shivered down thinking though we had alot of rain it may have still been dry so days of no rain I am watering it good. so far the one set is doing great!

@@briancaleb6503 I just want to figure out how to get these up and moved. There are about 15 to 20 long stems I guess they are called. And I dig a home around the one set and they are all tangled in each other I dig so far it came up to my knees the whole and I still coulsnt get mine peonies out. I need them moved so bad The spot they are I the way we are laying off yard I think is a very bad spot. I dont want to kill them.

I have three plants that are very intertwined with each other being I started them from seed close together and they have bloomed the last two years at some point I am going to have to separate them, when the time comes I don't know what I will find under there lol. Hope some one on here can give you some pointers with you situation.

@@StephRenee812 thinking back we have moved some taking the dirt and all but small plants just took the dirt and roots together and put them in a new whole and all was fine even had them still bloom but if its a large patch I have not tried moving them. But in the video they have cleaned the dirt off them and dividing them. Not sure if right now is a good time to do it though unless its a must to do thing if you are able to get them up with the dirt and move them id do i that way or maybe some one on here can advise.

A friend gifted me a peony too late in the season & brought it to me today . Its got a 2 ft stalk completely leafed out, flower heads on top of the stalks and next years buds on the bottom but it doesn't have any roots to speak of.They sliced it off near the top of the roots.

It's a lovely adventure!! In 1995 I was given my 1st peony, I have divided and shared 6x. I am thrilled to bits--I just bought 5 new varieties from Adelman's. IMHO Peonies are as beautiful as roses (minus all the fuss) lovely foliage, and the best....no thorns! Adelman's did suggest ground-planting vs a container planter. I've lost more perennials to 'containers' (dehydrated usually) Good luck and enjoy!

We just moved into our nee home a s I found these kind of plants growing. I went to try to dig to find out how the roots were a d they are all over under the ground sone not very deep like righr at top of dirt big roots and roots go deep as well. They are all tangled and I was going to tey to move them from the spot they were at. Not a very good one. There were lots of old brush and old rose bush stuff in this spot.. and has been walked over and everything. Surprised these are growing back. They have been here for 15 years . They keep coming back. Last year I dodnt see then at all. Which is weird.. now I am seeing these long red stick looking things standing up all over. Lol. I hate that they are were they are. I. Not sure how to cit them out of ground. There are now about 20 of them standing. All over. Lol. Help. I'm rambling Not that I have read we have the intersectional one. Because I dug and dig for over a hour. And they are all over the place. And close to the top of the ground all tangled like that one.. I need to get these out before my husband kills them with his truck and 4 wheelers and dirt bike
