Flip Flappers was an amazing show, but it didn't fall into a convenient genre and it didn't have a strong marketing push. It has a strong story, but it's introduced in a very surreal way and many details aren't explained until much later. Instead of simplifying and dumbing it down, the director decided to focus on making it the best show possible: every frame can be a computer wallpaper, every character is unique and strongly motivated, every episode slowly introduces more threads to the emotionally gripping story. They bet on the audience being good enough to understand without handholding, and they bet wrong. They respected the audience too much. Flip Flappers was a monetary failure. We failed.

I think its because it was a different anime every episode, like ones a shones ones psychological horror, they in a digital world, then the twist/slash reveal towards the end in the real world. I love it but it is hard to place
