I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of the likes and positive comments on this. I made this when I was 18 and never expected anyone would ever hear it. I can’t believe it surpassed 400,000 views. I’m working as a film/ video game composer now. There are some parts where it being off beat was intentional (Ex. the section with “I’d rather give up and be happy”) and there are some parts where it isn’t. I think the sample I used sped up at certain points and I didn’t catch that at first. Even if the offbeat tempo is unintentional I think it sounds better that way! It sounds much more unique which makes it all the more amazingly stunning!! Keep doing what you love no matter what, people will always hate. Don't let it get in the way because there are also people who love anything that you do and will always support you! He has talent but the tempo is totally offbeat and it sounds pretty bad to me. If it's really an artistic choice, since it turns ok later on the song, it's ok because art is about this, trying to paint the world how you see it, not exactly how it is, but the start sounds pretty out of place to me.

I once accidently opened KZbin link twice, without noticing. I was listening to this this sick off beat... But turned to be the second video being perfectly out of step for to sound good. "I'd rather give up. And be... happy..." That's my favourite part. To me, the pause before "happy" feels like a sort of "who am I kidding". A sigh of exhaustion from putting up with it all. I want more from my life that will probably ever be possible and keep chasing what feels like the end of the rainbow. The end always over the horizon and forever beyond my grasp. I've been depressed for the vast majority of my life now and wish that I could just be happy with what I've got. That I could leave the past behind and stop dwelling in it. That I could stop dreading the future for what it might have in store for me. Just being in the moment and take the days as they come, without my mind wandering to the past or the future and filling me with anxiety... Giving up on trying to control every outcome as to not repeat past mistakes. As if that is even possible... Who am I kidding... I'll probably always be like this but hopefully I'll be able to accept it one day. That is why the offbeat speaks to me. That's why it makes it better. It's flawed in a way that ads an extra layer that I can personally relate to. But each person have their own perspective and I can see why some people dislike it. I wish they could hear my version and take away something positive instead of something negative from how the song is made and get a better experience from it. Sorry for the long comment.

Thanks so much!! I wanted it to be really impactful when the Divinity sample started playing, so I tried to keep everything pretty quiet and calm beforehand while slowly fading in the individual instruments. I thought it would make a cool stylistic shift. Glad you liked it!

Yeah, tempos are off in the beginning. Most notably, "happy" at 1:36 comes at a really awkward time, but it would probably be fixed if the tempo issue was corrected. Everything else is great though, from 1:37 on, this is an AWESOME mashup :)
