I have a special prayer request for a friend. Sarah D, a teenage girl in Australia, is suffering from Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, which makes her dizzy and she's unable to attend school. It's affecting the whole family of course and your prayers would be very much required and appreciated. Many thanks and God bless.

There are a series of positioning techniques that can be found online. I experience this several times a year but these exercises help me a lot. It occurs due to calcium deposits that get lodged in the semi- circular canals inside the ear. The exercises help to dislodge the calcium deposits & corrects the “balance” which alleviates the vertigo. Hope this helps!

A serious topic for serious times. When I think of eternity in hell, I tremble. I try harder EVERY single day. “Have mercy on me Jesus, a sinner.” I try to remember to say this line EVERY day. Thank you Father, for reminding us that only LOVE & HUMILITY gets us into heaven.

Father, your talks bring me spiritual nourishment and comfort daily, thank you and God bless you. I wonder if you’d do a talk where you expand on the topic from 37:01 here, how our sin affects others. I would like to feel prepared to speak on that if I faced a similar argument. Much love to you from a Marian helper in Portland, OR.

So I am kind of late to this, but this was such a great talk! I was a psychology and theology major in college. My one theology professor who was a religious sister stated that she did not believe there was anyone in hell if God was a loving father. Fortunately, I never believed her. Thank you Fr. Chris.

I once had a serious talk with a priest several years ago and I told him I had a serious fear of going to hell if I died in the state of sin, and he assured me I would not since I was baptized. He said you may go to purgatory but you will never go to hell. It’s hard to know what to believe sometimes, but I really feel that this, what father Chris is saying, rings truth and what is in scripture.

Also I REALLY love these talks, Father, I appreciate your honesty, openness and willingness to speak on these difficult subjects but it needs to be heard! I think you said once as a loving priest I need to do this, and as a loving mother I do too, it’s a very similar feeling, that if my kids grow up without hearing any of this from me because I’m afraid it will scare them, I am not really helping/being honest with them. I pray for all parents and Priests that God helps them find the strength, wisdom and words to talk truth-especially in the times we are living.🙏

Powerful talk, I heard it! Too many Catholics just don’t understand anymore. Lord God, help us always to have a strong, burning desire to fear you.
@jendoe94363 жыл бұрын
Just finished reading your book “Understanding Divine Mercy” and found it to be a good wake up call in evaluating my spiritual life. I had also purchased the Dairy of St. Faustina and some other books from Catholic Answers that finally arrived, so can’t wait to see where my journey is gonna go! The long standing issue of “A good God would never allow Hell” does seem to wipe away the idea that humans can freely choose bad over good. While there are real world cases and reasons for someone choosing something bad (such as trauma, misinformation, fear, etc), we still have that innate desire for good and often can make choices for the good or lessening that bad. God is mercy, we only have to look at Jesus to see how much God shows his mercy towards us. While it is true we should never give up on someone, at some point true change needs to come from within a person. Someone whose actions are constantly forgiven without reprimand, never takes responsibility for themselves, doesn’t attempt to correct themselves, or chooses willful ignorance will have to accept that it will catch up to them at some point. Addicts are an example of change needing to be self started. Making parents take full responsibility for all of their children’s actions no matter the age can cause horrible cracks in relationships. Either humans are free to follow their wills or they aren’t. If it’s the later, then that causes way more issues like “double predestination” that makes God to be some tyrant who only chooses the things he likes while discarding the trash. In the former, humans are treated as the rational creatures we are who can decide what is and isn’t good for us. God is goodness so our natural desire should be for God. When we turn away from that good willingly, we shouldn’t have “shocked Pikachu” face when we get what we want. Wonderful talk as always Father Chris, and I do semi-agree little Rocky is quite a dog 😅 Praying for y’all Marians, the souls in Purgatory, and whatever else God places in my heart 🙏

Another wonderful lesson. Thank you so much Father. I just want to comment about fear. Without some level of fear, people can do anything they want. If we don’t fear being put in jail, or on a smaller scale being given a ticket then we don’t respect the laws and police officers and justice system. Same goes for fearing and respecting parents, teachers, etc. and absolutely the same goes when it comes to fearing our Lord. If we don’t fear, we don’t respect, and we do what we want to do not caring about consequences. Plain and simple. We have to Fear the Lord.

Thank you so much Fr. Chris Alar for putting all of this together...we really need to know because we are just not being told about this from the pulpit. In my 13 years at my Parish, I haven’t heard a single homily on heaven, hell or confession. And this breaks my heart, because what could be worse than the loss of heaven and union with Our Lord... and when we try to share this with others, they think we are just crazy. There is a spiritual battle for our souls and we are in great danger if we ignore this.. Loved what Fr. Vincent Lampert (Exorcist)said... “Every time the devil thinks that he is doing something that is advancing his kingdom, he’s ultimately advancing the Kingdom of God.” We rather be in the fight as soldiers of Christ and advance God’s Kingdom.... Father Chris, what I find so very useful in these two vitally important and yes, inspiring talks is the fact that when I am being tempted, I have a clear understanding of Satan’s end game is. It’s all too easy to allow the darkness of the enemy’s ideas he puts forth to take hold just the tiniest bit.. but what he wants is what the Fatima children, Teresa of Avila and Saint Faustina experienced first hand…. if people would only know the depth of the Catholic doctrines, they would surely say that the there is no other religion more faithful to the early Church than the Catholic Church. The sacraments are biblical, and they are like gifts channelling God’s Graces to us, helpless people... we brand ourselves in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and through this sacramental, we are reminded of the Triune God, that we were baptized in the Spirit and therefore, we must bear our own crosses like Christ, death to our old selves, and become renewed in Him, so that we may be resurrected with Him. To shed our old skins, become empty so that only the Spirit will fill us anew, that we may become one with Christ while alive on this earth, so that we are accustomed to His Spirit, His blinding Light, in preparation for that day, when we will come face to face with God and look upon Him and His Magnificence. Father, we call them... Because the priests are our spiritual fathers.

Here is what I would like to share about what I 'd read about coming back to God each time we had sinned. Imagine we are tied to God with a string. Everytime we sin, the string is cut off. When we repent and return to God, the string is tied back. So, everytime we sin and repent the string gets cut off and tied back. In the end, the string becomes much shorter, meaning we end up being so much closer to God! I think this is so very beautiful! This is probably why God allows us to sin! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️✝️✝️

I got, read and love Understanding Divine Mercy. I might get a couple of copies for friend for Christmas. I am trying to find ways to witness to others on moral issues. I make it known I am a Conservative Catholic Republican.

Thank you Father ; I am talking about hell and sins to my family who don't believe very much and don't practice their catholic faith (mass, confession, mariage etc.) I evangelize the best I can... And am happy to hear you say it is a duty to do it and tell them the "facts". Even if they are not very interessed (in my case).... Here in Quebec it is very common! God bless you! 🙏⚘️🙏

It's so easy not to try, let the world go passing by. I have warned and tried to explain, at the cost of being disliked by my daughter. I offer her up to our Blessed Lady. Viva Cristo Rey!
