Having been filled with the Holy Spirit at one point in my life, I now find myself longing and constantly asking God to fill me again with that divine love, peace and communion with Him. I often ask for comfort as well. I fear that I may be falling into that area of seeking God's consolations rather than the God of consolation. What should I be praying for at this point? I'm going through some extremely difficult times in my life right now, and feel that perhaps God is trying to build up my faith and trust in Him, as well as strength of character? Sometimes I just feel so lost. Thank you Father Anthony for this amazingly in depth homily! I just love this channel ❤️

Fr. Anthony, thank you for the very thorough and excellent explanation of the contemplative prayer according to St. Teresa of Avila. It’s truly a great help to desire God wholeheartedly in one’s life, who alone deserves a permanent place in our hearts. When we have Him and united to Him, we don’t crave for anything else, but exist to live in peace, love and enjoy His presence. The experience makes one humble, simple and childlike in spirit that invites others to come to God and know Him well, as the only way, truth and everlasting life.

Thank you ❤ , Fr . Anthony , for helping us to widen our perception on the different levels of prayers . Prayer is not something that we do , rather , it is a relationship where God is the doer and we have to surrender our heart ♥️ and trust in Him . When the soul enters into a contemplative spiritual relationship , it experiences the presence of Jesus in a deeper way and feels more focused directly with Christ . In contemplation, as you said , we passively receive and taste the sweetness of loving conversation with Jesus . The silent heart is left yearning for more . After struggling for 18 years , Saint Teresa herself left us a beautiful testimony to the the fruits of loving Jesus in the " spiritual rain 🌧 " , the mystical union with Christ . After listening to your talk , Fr . Anthony , I had to go back and listen to it once again with a deeper reasoning of mind and will . Thank you , once again , in putting all this effort into educating our relationship with God through prayer 🙏 . AMEN .

Wow, what you said about seeking God’s consolation rather than the God of consolation is something we discussed in our Fransalian Associates meeting this morning. Perhaps God is speaking to me about this. Thank you for your talk, Fr Anthony. I have to watch this again and take notes.

Father this talk is so deep, thorough and you speak so fast, so long - I know time is a factor - that I will have to listen to this about 20 times - NOT exaggerating - in order to get it all down. I’ve ever ever heard any such teaching on prayer before and this it’s overwhelming. I so much want to get better at meditation - I also may haves experience some contemplative prayer when I find myself unable to sleep - quite often - just think about God and his love. However, I know it’s not exacting as you speak of it. I need to go on a long retreat that teaches prayer.
