Loved this band for a solid decade, thanks to a friend whose basement I was crashing in deciding to play Desperate Measures about 5,862 times in one night on his excellent stereo system. I never got tired of hearing it, and Ever After still blows me away to this day. The entire thing sounds like one 45 minute long song. Just incredible. Saw them in concert for the first time a few weeks ago and they absolutely cooked, I wish more people here in the US knew about them. Great deep dive man

It's funny, because I got to know them when I was also listening to spotify and it recommended me "cross my heart" and i was like WAW, THAT'S SO COOL! and i watched the yt video and ended up in who do you love and i LOVED THE HARMONIES. it was great, it made me want to do something like that, and here I am, being a music student in a renamed college thanks to that

It's funny how I found out about them I was listening to a interview on Mark hoppus podcast with a member of a k-Rock band called Day6 and he said that this was his favorite band and they started playing a snipped of "haven't have enough" and the rest was history they are so Underrated it hurts

Just going to add that josh and Carly were both and are still both signed to 604 records, that’s probably how they met too… he didn’t just collab with her out of no where, they were both already signed to the same label!:)

Oh hey, someone who knows the bands history & the origins/roots. Fun fact about Cooler Than Me, as of April this year, we have the album in full! Not sure if you’ve ever listened to the tracks besides Primetime.

18:17 Correcting you here. There are 3 renditions of Good To You as a rough demo of the track duetted by Tania Hancheroff was posted to her SoundCloud. It’s a very stripped down & more somber version of the track.

@@beetlebatAs a devoted Trencher who’s been writing my thoughts on each record over on Tumblr, this video was exactly what I needed. Such a fascinating and distinct reading of Ever After. It truly is Josh being so head over heels for Amanda despite knowing theirs toxicity there. And of course, it took her breaking his heart, waiting for her to reconcile with him and finally marrying and settling down with her (having a kid in the process) to understand that. 😂

As a Canadian I always considered Mariana's Trench to be one of those inescapable, generic radio bands. They were played constantly, at school dances, at the mall, on Much Music. Seemed like everyone in my high school loved them. It is so fun to see an American perspective on this! Glad you're loving it 😊

Same, to me they were a band that was good for 1 album, and then completely lost their style and appeal selling out. Desperate Measures was inescapable on Ottawa radio. Listening to some of their new stuff, I still don't like it nearly as much as anything on Fix Me, but I respect that they at least seem to be making the music they want to make.
