Quick and iterative design always results in better, more interesting results than just detailing the first finished sketch you did.

I appreciate you working in traditional and showing the early parts of your process that's not all polished and beautiful but an essential part of the full piece.

This is the first time I came accross this artist today and the way how he just draws shapes with a small intention behind it and just rolls with it. Is how I remember drawing as a kid. There are pros and cons but it does offer room imo for a lot of ideas to be made with little concequences. But it may take longer to find one that you like.

for some reason I feel like he draws like a middle schooler doodling in class, but I also feel like there is so much behind those designs, it starts to look professional.

as a professional pumpkin carver I can really relate to these heads and figures, if you want to see these types of pumpkins as real pumpkins check out my friend Ray Villafane's work. He is The master of pumpkin carving and I was lucky enough to work with him a couple of times. He also does the most amazing scarecrows.

You mentioned getting heavy handed and losing fine control with the pencil. I noticed you were sitting hunched over the table with your head curled around to see what you were drawing. It may sound a bit Victorian to say sit with proper posture, however correcting poor posture, in this case while drawing, will improve overall control of your pencil with the added benefit of reducing body strain and pain.

I would have liked to see you use the stalk on the chin like a goatee or some such. I think it could have worked well on the Franken-pumpkin you were doing.

The camera jumping between him talking and the paper so many times is super distracting. Honestly he`s super pretty and all, but less jumps and more page time would be better in my opinion :) Lovely narration though !
