So this dive turned out to be my last dive in Australia. The SS Yongala sank in 1911 as a cat 5 cyclone overtook her off the coast of Townsville, in Tropical North Queensland . 122 passengers and crew were lost as well. She is considered to be one of the top 10 wreck dives in the world!. I can only give viewers a small taste of how incredible this dive was in this 13 minute video, and I did not even include any clips of how challenging the boat ride on the Yongala Dive Company's R.I.B.( Rigid Inflatable Boat) was because the weather had turned pretty ugly on the way to the wreck, with 3 meter seas , wind ,and dark overcast skies! I feel extremely proud of this video considering that I am now using a GoPro 11 camera instead of my Cannon HFS camera & Gates Underwater Housing and lights as when I worked for dive shops in the Caribbean. I will more than likely never experience another dive in my lifetime that had so many creatures that it was difficult to know where to point my camera! I hope everyone that views this enjoys watching it as much as I enjoyed creating what feels like the best underwater video I have ever made! Comments, likes and shares of this would be greatly appreciated . Ron Siebert

You have some awesome shots of the SS Yongala there. I've yet to make my way down there to have a look at it. Hopefully i get good conditions like you did when I go. From what I've been told its pretty deep right? BTW its Zeb here :)

Aloha Jeb, so from what I remember the bottom of the wreck sits right around 100 ft. or 30 meters, and the top sits around 60 ft. or 18 meters. And honestly as you may notice in the video, most of the best clips are at the upper portion anyway. What you don't see in the video is that the conditions were actually not that great. The weather looked decent as we were on the beach getting ready to head out, but the skies turned pretty dark 10 minutes into the ride and we were hit with 3 meter seas. With the wind and waves we were all soaked by the time we arrived, and it took almost 50 minutes instead of the normal 30 minutes to get to the site! Several of the other divers got seasick, luckily I did not(lol), but it was all worth it!!!

I did this dive with YONGALA Dive Company out of Ayer about an hour south of Townsville. They are much closer to the wreck than if you leave from Townsville!
