Tools like this were made for the level designers, not the players, its an engine tool like Unreal Editor. Its cool that they made it public tho. NeverwinterNights1 did something similar and it resulted in it being the single best rpg game(and imo game overall) ever released, I dont think this will be a replacement, since its limited to 4 players and its turn based, where in nwn1 you could make huge mmo worlds by linking multible 50 players servers, I think we will see alot of great single player and co-op adventures released for this just like we did for nwn1 tho

I'm actually a longtime NWN player, and this probably the closest thing i've seen to a modern reboot of NWN. I'm very impressed. It would be amazing to allow 50 players on a private server again, i think it could be done with this game, but i'm not exactly sure the devs will ever really look at that route. The game is still very new, so who knows what will come in the future.

So, after testing the editor out for a bit there's one thing that is important to know when building a level. If you're making a platform that can't be reached by walking up there, but can only be accessed by other means (like ladders or teleporting) it will only be made walkable if you put an "AiSeeder" trigger there.

How do you do that? Just paint the surface with Movement in the AI panel? Does this make it possible to have surfaces or areas under the bridge walkable?

@@haydend.2678 Late reply, but the AiSeeder is placed the same way as a start trigger, and can be found in the same location. The start trigger actually includes an AiSeeder, which is why you don't need to place one alongside them when you make a new "basic" level in the editor.

Imagine this in Baldur's Gate 3, the community making new maps with quests, npcs, history and etc. Creating portals or invocations to transfer the character from baldur's gate from the custom map and playing in the community maps

I got it to work. Make sure you have the terrain picked, (highlighted blue), before you click the arrow, this will update what the terrain material box says, and you can click ok.

The file has to have the blue ball icon next to it. I found that by deselecting all the other icons along the top then selecting the blue ball it gave all the viable options. For a long time I was searching TR_ and finding purple squiggle icon stuff but no blue ball stuff. If I click-for-click like in the video the filter doesn't work the same for some reason.

I'm in the engine, through GoG, but... It doesn't let me select Terrain Material. The icons in front of the files are purple and not blue. When i select them the other window doesn't recorgnize it and won't let me proceed.

A stupid question, if I may. How do I move my POV camera back and forth in the editor? A and D are for left and right, holding down the wheel is for rotation; W, S, the mouse wheel AND space are for zoom. Where's back and forth?

The terrain painting system is great, I'll have fun messing with that later. I was legit worried when the tool kit was announced that it'd work like Bethesda's games which use a grid based "Lego" building system. This video has one major problem though that I hope you'll address in the future. The most important aspect of level design is dressing the scenery and that part was completely sped over. It's not the grand strokes of a level that make it really impressive, it's the little details. We'll definitely need a video on all the commands and tricks for placing decoration objects and such in the future.

When selecting a material object in the Resource Manager, I get an error saying "Adding object to node: center of the object '' is too big to fit in the node. All the other types of resources load but not these. I am using the GOG editor.

That's a great tutorial, but there's something I still don't get yet, how do you rotate the damn camera ? Currently I'm using the narrow key to navigate on maps but it's a pain in the ass. Hey, this is nice & all, but... how do I look at the effects of skills in the game? ie, I wanna make it so huntsman skills that require a ranged weapon can use wands... or make wands have the tag of ranged weapon, whichever would be easier.

You guys need to make a Toolset like Neverwinter Nights. You could script events and voice ( use mic) to give npcs voiced dialog. And you could make your own little area's. I donno how i feel about the Game Master mode. It was a let down cause it worked like some Old school dungeons and dragons kinda thing, and you couldnt really play it by yourself. It would be awesome if you could play a fully made voiced game created by players with scripted events that was EASY to make just like Neverwinter nights Toolset. You could change the characters looks, dialog box, pathing (where they walk) make a city feel lively, It gave you so much freedom than what we have now. I love divinity but it lacks creativity when it comes to Game Master
