I find it kind of a haunting song because Chrissy did die relatively young.

@@shaundgb7367 Same here! In the day I didn't think anything of it, but in the passage of time combined with Chrissy's passing, this song does leave us with something...

I miss Chrissy so much, the thought of never being able to go see the divinyls again, after she passed away, was just too heart breaking for me. Even though, she and the band had broken up by then, we all hoped they would get back together and tour again.

@@barbararees604 Too right Barbra.. I saw 'em heaps of x's since 1984.. Not as awesome of Kaitlyn Batt's history.. She was seeing them in 1980. But yea, I was so sad when she left us 11 years ago! 2013 sucked seeing Chris Bailey of The Angels/Gangajang and Doc Neeson leaving us not long after. Long live Aussie rock legends!

Me too. And Susie Stenmark devouring that passion fruit in INXS's ''The One Thing'' video. Got me to look at my fellow Aussie sisters in a different way.

Love this ! .. Bought the single as soon as I heard it, and still sounds great to me .. Nice build up with extra layering as the song goes on .. And of course, Chrissie sounds her wonderful self.

Seems this one only gets better in time. Bit of a mellow tune considering the time of the year we're in. This one always reminds me of their other hit ''Back To The Wall''.

I had a betamax tape (not even VHS!!!) with songs on it. I copied songs off tv, it had stuff by groups like The Cure, The Angels, and this song. Loved it.

Gillian and I were doing the same thing. We recorded a lot of Countdown, and Donnie Sutherland's Sounds in the 70's and 80's. We need to get hold of Dad's boxes of video tapes and see what treasures are buried in them.

This was a gap filler between the first and second album. I thought it was okay as a melancholy Divinyls' radio number to fill the airwaves on an evening during the week. It's definitely more than that in hindsight.

I used to hear it as background Divinyls music, and I only recognised it when her voice and bass came in on the main hook "'when the good die young''. I think now that their time is moving further and further away from us, we can see just how good they were.. Not just Chrissy and Mark, but Rick, Bjarne and Richard as well...

@SnAke_Eyez_oVer_ParAdice I understand what you mean, but I don't think that you should say that something is better than it is just because the person who created it has passed away. All artists and bands do work which isn't their best and there's nothing wrong in that, it's the law of averages, of course you have fans of an artist or band who will like almost all of the output that they do, all I can do is comment on what I hear and what I think of certain tracks and give my opinion.
@SnAke_Eyez_oVer_ParAdiZe

@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Each to their own. I used to hear this as a pleasant radio song; suitable for the background. It was only when the line ''when the good die...'' was heard that I recognised it as a song I heard five or six times previously. It was a lone single for about six months before its inclusion on the ''What A Life!'' album. I didn't buy it as a single, which should tell you how little of an impression it made on me. However, I can hear that it is a finely written song. Certainly not their best, but one that is deserving of longevity. I don't think the passing of an artist makes a song better, but I can't help noticing a correlation between the mainline of this song, and that of her passing at a young age. I think it's natural that people would think of her premature departure when they take a listen to this song.

Production of its time.. Sadly, the song will probably always be relevant.
