'Sirens' has long been my favourite song by the Divinyls. A good rockin' tune.

A true Aussie sweetheart, Chrissy was a phenomenal live performer. Might of been fuzzy as we see her pain through a veil of tears.

Only Chrissy Amphlett could get away with a line like “I might kick her face in”, bless her! Great song, but for something a bit rockier, try songs like Pleasure and Pain, Elsie, Boys in Town, and Science Fiction. One of the truly great Aussie bands, and Chrissy an unparalleled front woman, greatly missed.

Sheriff Mike, check out an Aussie band, The Angels. Discovered by AC/DC in 1974 and awesome live. There is footage from a concert called Live At Narara. Each song is a ripper. The Angels were favoured by US bands Guns & Roses, Great White, Skid Row, Nirvana, Pearl Jam. The Angels toured the US many times but screwed over by record labels. Should’ve been huge. Give them a listen

RIP Chrissie Amphlett 🕊🕊 I saw the Divinyls live and they were excellent. It must have been hard to sing with her ex in the band. On another note there is a connection to Chisel and Divinyls. After the passing of Chisel's heartbeat, Steve on drums, Chrissie's husband joined their band as a drummer. His name is Charlie Drayton.

Hello from Steve in South Australia. Check out AC/DC playing "Thunderstruck" Live at Riverplate. Must be the live performance. This band is the root of Australian rock. I challenge you not to be blown away.

When Chrissie started out she decided to create a character to match AC/DC’s Angus. She wanted to create a monster. She used to dress in a school girl’s uniform. I can see why you feel ambiguous about her, I did too. In other videos she’s very proactively sexual and the lyrics of some songs don’t paint a ladylike picture but weighed up against the fact that’s she’s a very attractive woman, a performer who grabs one’s attention and the band is very tight. Overall I do love the band.

The Divinyls have some great and very different songs. Many people react to their radio hits but I prefer their more obscure songs. My favourite would be Elsie live.

Chrissie was ahead of her time.....out there, in your face and appeared to be fearless. Singing about TABOO subjects before any one had heard of Madonna. More of a story teller than a singer, Chrissie had her own style and " acting" voice that worked with the stories she told, often about the brutality of relationships with arrogant, unloving men. My 2 favourites of hers are maybe not suitable for a gentlemanly Texas Gendarme, but that are the truth. Pleasure n Pain I Touch Myself.

As an interesting note on this song, the drummer Charley Drayton, later married Chrissie Amphlett. After she passed away, the Divinyls broke up and he replaced the drummer in Cold Chisel, Steve Prestwich, after he passed away.

Chrissie Amphlett was a great performer and a wild one. 'Boys In Town' is my favourite of her performance songs. I'm still waiting for reactions to John Farnham. If you want to boost your site numbers, John is the one to do it by. He's VERY popular and well-loved in Australia for good reasons.

React to 'I touch myself ' I guarantee you will....😅 This song was written when her boyfriend and collaborator guitarist Mark McEntee got another partner after being tempestuous lovers for years. Their first snd probably biggest hit 'Boys in Town' is a banger. Another gutsy Aussie band to check out with a strong Rock Chick - Baby Animals. Songs to check out -One Word, Rush, Early Warning.

Nice song. She was a unique singer and performer. I have a few suggestions for your list. Women are making an impact in rock and blues rock. I’m a big fan of blues rock guitarist from Texas Ally Venable, Irish rock duo Dea Matrona and Canadian blues/rock/roots singer and guitarist Madison Galloway. If you want links or suggestions I can provide some.

I’m not sure why this was suggested to you, yes they’re great but I didn’t think it would be your cup of tea in the same way I don’t think AC/DC would be but hey I guess you don’t know till you try.
