Quite clearly the BEST Divinyls song for me. Perfect in Every way. I've been listening to this addictively for weeks!

First time hearing this song for me actually. It's okay, seems a little generic. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite.

I'm 62 years young, Loved Chrissy and the band, saw them live so many times all over the country, just a crankin' tight hot band that belted out hit after hit that had everyone buzzing. You are sorely missed Ms Chrissy Amphlett where your music and band will be forever loved by music world ... RIP Chrissy Amphlett

ever seen the Ramones, when they were all still alive. They would play song/set list with a 1,2,3,4 count between songs.

I never got to see them unfortunately. You had to be great live to be in with a chance in those days. INXS made it because they played seven nights a week and sounded great.

I remember seeing them at Sydney, Flemington Markets in the 80's. The guitarist hit a bad note and Chrissy gave him the "death stare". The standards were high and unforgiven.

100%.... 100% 👍!. They were an incredible live act, her raunchiness cleverly disguised the fact she was a well educated and eloquent woman, I am forever glad I got to see them live more than once 🥳🥳

Like many of the Divinyls songs of the first album Desperate, this is essentially a forgettable pop song. HOWEVER, every instrument (on every song) transcends a pop song. Not only great composition, but also played with aggression and attitude. BUT, if it was just the male vocals, their songs would once again just fall into the void of forgettable pop songs. It's a pretty good song during the male vocal introduction, but every changes towards the end of the that intro as the music prepares us for Chrissy's vocals. The difference between the vocals and music in this intro, and what follows is what, in my opinion, set the Divinyls apart from anything of the era, and anything since. Chrissy's effortless vocals, always on pitch, sweet when it calls for it, but effortlessly slipping in and out of falsetto and gnarliness elevates this song, and all Divinyl's songs, to immortality. One doesn't need to see her perform to get smashed by her vocals, but her performance takes it next level. Divinyls never get old and when the song is finished I just want to listen to it again.. Recently watched a clip of Chrissy on Spicks and Specks (towards the end of her life), they asked her to sing a bit of Elsie. She sang the intro lines and it was just beautiful. One of the other celebs thanked her with a kiss on the cheek. Amazing vocalist.
