I'm from Brazil and I've lived in Perth for a little while. One night I was driving to buy groceries and THIS played on the radio. I pulled over on the first place I could, totally hypnotized by it. I spent around 10-15 days listening to this song only, both studio and live versions. One of my favorite ones ever. Great memories from Australia!

G'day from Aus! She was a female wild child for almost 30 years and still my favourite Aussie female singer of all time. I saw them twice in the 80s here in Melbourne and she could be scary on stage depending on the night, the song and her own mood. I would highly recommend you read her autobiography; Pleasure 'n Pain. Awesome book. Her own favourite tracks were Syren, Pixie and I'm Jealous which She states as her best vocal with the band and I agree I wept when I heard of her passing. She was truly a unique example of a freakishly talented artist. There will never be another quite like her and she is still missed having left a hole in the industry that's never been filled. The ones her saw her best vocals live were the lucky ones who saw her in her live Musical stage. RIP Christine Joy Amphlett.

Boys in Town was their first hit here in Aussie back in 78 or 79 I think. Came up on Countdown the ABC TV Sunday 6pm music show. It introduced me to The Runaways, KISS, Bowie, Quatro, The Sweet etc etc

Haha "the mattress in the dump", says Ginger. I think this was a kind of punk locale to suit the time, you know, to look edgy. Great song, definitely one of my faves of theirs. You guys are fun. I enjoy your comments and reactions.

Actually guys they played "Pleasure and Pain" a lot here on the radio in BC back then in the 80's. I think it was a minor hit here cracking top 40 playlists. This song is gorgeous! Chrissy at her hotest, most lushness! 😍 Yes I had a huge crush on her then! Plus it's an amazing song! The band looked to cool too! Chrissy's line "And then I kissed you in a very nice place" still makes me laugh! 🤣

She was fantastic live but always a bit of a cavewoman. I remember seeing a guy try to grab her from the crowd at a show and she punched him in the face. “In my life” is another great Divinyls song.

Lmao, yes, I know what you mean, Chrissy was always a bit like that, but in that era, we weren't really watching them as much as we were listening to them, mostly on the radio or cassette (I was in high school). They always had songs that were really good to sing along to. I love this one. You need to do Pleasure and Pain.

Great choice of song to react to. Chrissy was not subtle but very much on display is her split personality - tough on the outside but a real sweetheart on the inside. It's such a beautiful song that is genuinely sung from the heart, I feel. I think the symbology of her being in a rubbish tip is that she's had a tough life and is having to make the most of it until things turn for the better. If you're getting more into Aussie music, another similarly great song from about the same period is Don't Change by INXS.
