In my line of work I met Chrissy twice. She was briefed on who the crew was for the Divinyls gigs so knew me by name although we hadn't met yet. That alone left an impression on me but she was also charming, considerate, polite and very accommodating to my needs and others around us. The second time we met, she came bolting up to me from behind, yelled my name and hugged me! It was over 2 years between meetings and she remembered me... We chatted before and after the shows and I have never met a woman quite like her. It was like my life changed after each meeting. I bawled my eyes out when she died.

Chrissy was always real and intense, even in interviews. It was amazing to hear her talk about alcoholism and being a million dollars in debt, both of which she turned around through her own personal strength. I love that her mother, Mary, and her cousin, Patricia Amphlett (Little Pattie) were present and are so supportive and proud of her. I saw Divinyls many times and was always blown away by the intensity of their performances. I always thought that the secret to Chrissy was that she lived every song, becoming the character that her songs were about. I don't know another rock singer who did that as well as her. She was confronting and edgy but at the heart of it all, there was an artful intelligence. And over it all was her amazing voice which she could twist and bend like no one else. Intense and powerful performer, certainly one of the best frontpersons ever.

A very bright woman - and so many people never gave her credit for it. Such a gentle soul, in total contrast to her musical and stage persona. But, she was also impenetrable. A relentless tornado. Chrissy OWNED the stage, and every song she ever performed. Australia's reigning female powerhouse of rock. So many of my best childhood and teen memories... She will NEVER be emulated.

Chrissy was a powerful, selfless, and intelligent Angel 🌹🕊💘 Thank you kindly for sharing this amazing interview by Andrew Denton disclosing Chrissy's honest, beautiful soul.. I remember being back stage with Chrissy at the Enmore Theatre admiring her selfless demeanour! It was there that I got to see beyond the stage presence into her casual aura. Her kind spiritual words and humour that touched myself with her beautiful soul. This very candid interview letting the world see her fragility together with her deep inner strength should be replayed on mainstream for those who judged her.. There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe her as truly was so unique and sadly judged and misunderstood! I agreed with her and thought, Love 🥰was Science Fiction.😄 Chrissy🌹 remains 💘the most honest, selfless, gorgeous, talented, intelligent extremely sensuous girl friend forever💥 tatooed in our memory..Her blazing after glow💫 shines forever in our hearts.💘💝💖 Ange

Lost count of how many times I saw the Divinyls live even going back to before Monkey Grip was released. Australia had so many great bands from Chisel, AC/DC, Angels to the Easybeats but the Divinyls where imho right in the mix for being one of the best of the original rock bands in the country. At the end of every concert it took hours to come down from being pumped up by Chrissy's energetic performance, it was just full bore right up to the curtain call encores. So sad we have lost her, but she remains in spirit with the music she helped create and her demons and fobiles are what made her the character her fans loved. RIP Chrissy.

Chrissy Amphlett was bold, the songs were risque, but she is a much loved Aussie rock chick whom we dearly miss, she was taken much too early by a cruel disease (Breast Cancer) This is a very honest and serious interview about herself, congrats to Andrew Denton who was a master of interviewing and getting the best out of people. Was a huge fan for decades, then getting a taxi from Perth Airport into the City, she asked where I was going (had 3 guitars with me) and said "Let's share a Cab" - couldn't believe it, traffic along Orrong Road a nightmare, by the time we got to the Hotel (where I to was also staying) so we got our bags to our rooms and caught up for a few drinks. She was truly so amazing, understatement to say she was stunningly beautiful, like "drop dead" - many in the bar asking her for autographs and thinking I was her new guy, had to tell them we had just met, thankfully the autograph hunters soon let us alone. Stayed up until after midnight, just chatting and drinking. What a truly genuine lovely girl. Never saw her again yet kept in touch via email in later years. She was unique, guess I fell in love in her that night despite being married, she was just so charming, entertaining, hilarious and lovely! Was heartbroken when getting the news of Chrissie's passing. An Aussie Legend, but also a UK Legend!!

Two misjudged souls, on the outer one a comedian, one a licentious rock star, but when these two came together, they both recognized and were touched by the latent intelligence sensitivity, and depth that each possessed. This interview represented the palpable connection between two seminal artists at a time when people were not subjected to dull scripts or a woke culture where everybody has a voice that is often muted for fear of being offensive or erased.

At the end of this video I had to pause it and sit for a few minutes and think of what to say. Now that I've stopped crying, I think back at what my original reaction was. I was walking through our local shopping mall with my Wife and 2 young sons. As we walked passed our music shop (Sam Goody's) they were playing that song on their loud speakers. We were going to go in there, but I stopped my family and told them to keep walking. I went in and complained to them about having it up so loud, that I thought that it was not appropriate for family listening. In my mind I had heard songs that Covered every subject matter that you could imagine.....until that one. Well my wife died in 2010 and my boys are all married. I was so intent on saying that this song was so beautiful, but I wish there were different words to it. I never was that religious. But now I am ashamed after hearing her sing it at the end of this show. What a beautiful Love song. God Bless Chrissy's family.

Denton is one strange bloke. I had him in my cab a couple of times many years ago. Picked him up from Ch 7 one time and I was in my usually friendly mood but he acted like a weird little guy. He wanted the radio up full tilt so he didn't have to talk. I didn't recognize him initially but I later realised what was wrong with him, he thought I expected him to be on and funny but I didn't expect anything because I didn't know who the f@#ck he was, next time was from Crows Nest to his home but he was the same. Bloody huge ego I put it to I guess.
