Here is a doubt....if numbers have more than 2 pairs of 3 digit..then what will be the solution Ex :- 60,531,783.

Here u will get 5*4 as 20 Add it with the remaining number i.e. 71+20 = 91 If u know 91 is divisible by 13, u can stop here orelse you can continue with the same procedure... Last number is 1.. Multiplying with 4 gives 4... Add this with 9 U will get 9+4 as 13, which is divisible by 13..... This can be applied to all the Numbers!!!!

Using a number that actually is a multiple of 13 (2,392,455), unlike your example, so we can dumb it down for you .... 455 - 2392 = -1937 ... -1937/13 = -149 0r if you like you can continue with the same rule ... -1 - -937 = 936 ... 936/13 = 72

Multiply last digit by 4 and add to the remaining number and then check if the number is divisible by 13. If the number is big, repeat the steps again. If the resultant number is divisible by 13, the entire number will be divisible by 13. In case of 351, multiply 1 by 4 which gives you 4. This when added to the remaining number 35, would give 39, which is divisible by 13 and so 351 is divisible by 13.

+Mr. X Or rather than screwing around with all that, just divide 350 by 13 mentally. 13 x 20 = 260, leaving a 90 remainder. Add the 1 from the units digit and get 91. 13 x 7 = 91, so the answer is 27. 13 x 27 = 351. It helps to know all the multiples of 13 up to 13 x 9 by heart.

You can also do an alternating test like for 11 but you have to multiply the digit by a higher power of 3 each time: 62,257 ==> 7 - (3 x 5) + (3 x 3 x 2) - (3 x 3 x 3 x 2) + (3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 6) = 7 - 15 + 18 - 54 + 486 = 442, which is 13 x 34, so 62,257 is divisible by 13

ANUSHRI K Divide 88/13 and get 6 r 10. Carry the 10 and add the 4 to the end of it (this can be done mentally, the same way it's done on paper, from left to right). 104/13 is 8, which means 8 x 13 = 104. So 884/13 is 68. It helps to know the multiples up to 13 x 9 by heart.
