I contacted you thru your web page awhile back asking this question about if I did wrong and sister Donna kindly replied with this same info. A cheating spouse is about the worst kind of family destruction. A lot goes into a family for the good and for the bad but once that line is crossed it just crumbles for most. Thanks for covering this topic Brian and David.. as always thx to everybody there at FOJC in front of and behind the camera. Love your messages and I gain so much info to help me keep my life between the straight and narrow lines. Blessings and prayers for you all.

Looking back, I think my brother's troubled ex-wife might have been a victim of alien abduction. I think they messed with her memory so she didn't know what had happened to her. They messed with her mind. She was accused of being a pathological liar. She claimed to have multiple hysterectomies, but I think she had a vague memory of having fetuses being removed. She and my brother tried many years to have a child. I wish I knew then what I know now, but this was over 40 years ago. Maybe I could have help her. 😢😥😭

While I appreciate you covering this topic, divorce is actually such a huge subject, it would be impossible to do it justice in one YT video. As far as it being “mind-boggling” as to how the Christian divorce rate is higher than the secular, recent studies in marriage counselling in Christian vs. secular reconciliation rates will clear up the confusion. In general, the organized church system has treated the sanctity of marriage as being all-important, exceeding the importance of the safety and sanity of the people in the marriage. Women are usually told that, if there are marriage problems, they need to “try harder,” “submit more,” and “have more sex” with their husbands because now, no matter what the husband’s offence is, whether it be physical/emotional/sexual/financial/spiritual abuse, his sin is now the wife’s responsibility. I know one Christian marriage counselor (over 40 yrs in counseling) who had a woman come into her office, telling her that she first went to her pastor about her husband’s becoming increasingly dangerous. “It’s gotten so bad,” she told him, “I think he might kill me.” His response? “Well, at least you will go to be with Jesus.” In general, Christian men are propped up in church culture to be the all-knowing head of the house, so how could he be at fault? It’s got to be her! But church culture has accomplished this with Scripture twisting, to a god-like state, & this is idolatry. This man has no fear of his wife divorcing him for his abusive behavior because the church leaders will back him up. In the secular arena, counsellors report, these men tend toward changing their garbage behavior for feat that their wives will file for divorce. In regards to Deut 24, Jesus was answering the Pharisees over one point in the Law. This was not Jesus giving a full discourse on something as complicated as divorce. Jesus was refuting what the Pharisees had written in the Talmud about frivolous divorce. A key thing to note in Deut 24:2 is that the woman could remarry if she had a “bill of divorcement”. Jesus was rebuking those men who sent the woman away with no certificate of divorce. Thus she was either to starve to death on the streets or seek another man to take her in. This is why Jesus was saying that the husband “causeth her to commit adultery.” He said that was why Moses permitted them to write a bill of divorcement (Mark 10:5) because their hearts were so hard they would let a woman starve to death otherwise. Fornication doesn’t just mean extramarital sex. It means a lust for sensual gratification, making sex an idol, even within a marriage. Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” “Whoremongers” in the Greek means “fornicators.” Andrew Murray says this, “It is not simply sexual promiscuity outside the married state, but all voluptuousness (addictedness to pleasure or sensual gratification, which is idolatry) all lack of sobriety regarding sensual pleasure is condemned in these words, “Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost.” (1 Cor 6:19). What this means is that God will judge those within marriage who, in their sexual lust, defile the marriage bed, thus idolizing sex, and using their spouse as an object of that idolatry (sexual abuse). God will judge those who dishonour sex, even within the marriage itself! Why are you limitimg abuse only to physical abuse? Why should she be loosed only through fornication? In 1 Cor 5:9-13, Paul said “9I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.” [Railer = Strong's 3060: A railer, reviler, abuser. As in verbal abuser] If Paul was concerned with the relationships within the fellowship, why would it not follow that a spouse would need to “put away from among yourselves that wicked person”? I could go on, but I must say this for all of those who have had their lives turned upside down because of treachery and the necessity of divorce: God has compassion for what you’re going through. You have been in danger and suffering, but God gave you deliverance through divorce. He is not telling you that you committed a sin by getting divorced. He got divorced. And He knows above everyone else that you cannot control another person’s behavior. He understands and He’s praying for you. Jesus “ever liveth to make intercession for them,” (Heb. 7:25).

1:03 when we sin, we divorce God? What about, confess your sins to one another and God if faithful and just to forgive us our sin? I'm sure people sin and divorce and later realize the error. There is no forgiveness for that sin? Come David. Divorce is the unpardonable sin? Man I love a lot of your content, but this stance just makes no sense

I couldn't agree more! Who says that everyone who is divorced has sinned? Two people make the covenant, but it only takes one to break it. And what about God? He divorced Israel, and we all know He can't sin! Please see the comment I posted on this. People don't need to teach on something this sensitive & complicated if they haven't "studied to show themselves approved." Very disappointed in this lack of understanding what the Scriptures say about this topic & stating opinions as if backed up by Scripture. This teaching left one divorced man in the Facebook chat very discouraged about his future & scared that he will go to hell if he remarries. Very sad.

@@lorrainealvsaker5256 No, but he said it was a sin. Just because you're divorced doesn't mean you sinned. Like I said, God divorced Israel and He can't sin! I don't see in the Bible where God says that all divorce is a sin. God said in Malachi that He hated how divorce was used to injure someone else. So I don't see where David is getting that from.

@@safepasture8710 Jesus did say that Moses only allowed divorce, because the Israel of God had hardened their hearts, and were going to do it, anyway. The Bible does say in Mark 10:9, What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Once a man has left his parents and held fast to his wife, the two are joined together by God. Jesus says the man needs to separate from his family of birth (Mark 10:7), not his wife. You are allowed to divorce your spouse, if they commit adultery, which David explained, because they have broken your marriage covenant. As we both know, genetic Israel broke their covenant with God, because they went whoring after the pagan gods, therefore, you are correct, God did not sin and cannot sin, he divorced an unfaithful wife. If anyone has sinned and divorced their spouse for any other reason than what God permits, then, as David said, you can ask for forgiveness. I hope this helps, be blessed.

A Covenant/Testament is Until Death It does not matter what today's false teachers may say, or a jewish false teacher of the 15 century, Hebrews 9:15-20 proves: - Jesus did not break a single command of the Mosaic law (Gala 4:4, Luke 2:21, Deut27:26). - Jesus, before death (Colo 2:13-17, Ac10:13-16), did not teach anything that contradicted Moses. He came to fulfill, not destroy (Mat5:17-18), He upheld Moses' seat (Mat 23:1-3, Levi 18:4-5), He said to cast the first stone (Jn 8:7, Levi20:10). -Marriage is until death Mala 2:10-17, Rom7:1-4

God is not the author of confusion, but of order. So the Hebrew and Greek text of God’s word can not contradict one another in meaning. If so then one language would prohibit sin, while the other allows for it. When God’s word is rightly divided (Acts 20:27; 2 Tim 2:15) everything is properly reconciled. Extramarital activity of persons who are in a God Joined One Flesh Covenant Marriage commit adultery [Hebrew word : Na'aph; Greek word : Moicheia] Not Fornication (premarital sex among single persons) [Hebrew word : Zanah ; Greek word : Porneia; Porne] TWO different sexual sins! Fornication is not Adultery Hosea 4:13 (kv) They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom (zanah), and your spouses shall commit adultery (naaph). Before marriage issues: Zanah Gen 34:31, Levi 21:9,14, Deut 22:21, 2 Ch 21:11 Numbers 25:1 taken into the NT: Rev 2:14, Mat 19:9 After marriage issues: Naaph Levi 20:10, Jer 29:23, Eze 16:32,38 Exodus 20:14 taken into the NT: Rom 13:9, Mat 5:32 The Word has never allowed divorce over adultery Divorce to Remarry Is A Conterfeit, God Divorced to Reconcile>ISA 50:1-2, JER 3:8,14,4:1 You can confess sin and be forgiven, but if you're planning to allow yourself to do the sin again then God doesn't forgive you

God in Malachi 2:1 & Jesus in Mark 10:5 were defending the women who, at the time, did not have a way of surviving if their husband kicked them out. If they were not given a certificate of divorce from the husband, then they had to commit adultery if they got involved with another man just to survive because they were not officially divorced. In both passages, the husband was being rebuked by God. In Malachi, God is basically saying, "I hate the violence you are doing to your wife," & Jesus says in Mark, "You are hard-hearted and perverting what God meant marriage to be." Jesus stood up for women who were being oppressed.
