i was thinking the same thing, as someone who dated divorced women in my past deeming there was nothing wrong of it at the time because i thought that since divorce seemed acceptable in Holy Scripture (or so i deemed) it would be no problem to date divorced women. How wrong i was.

Ive never been married, Im born again (really born again) not bc i said a prayer.....anyway every time I meet a Christian woman and hope for a promising future and then find out she was divorced - i immediately end the relationship. Not sure if Im doing it right, but I don't want to live in sin, marrying someone that could curse me bc they were in a previous marriage and divorced against GODs law.

You are doing it right. My testimony is that I’ve tried to have relationships with women who were divorced in the past. Funny thing is that non of those relationships ever worked. Death is the only thing that can break the covenant. God has someone for you that had not been married. Read Luke Chapter 16 verse 18. God bless you.

In Greek it means WAS not enslaved. It follows up this section in v.39 with a woman is bound for life to her husband as long as he is alive.

I'm trying to translate this sermon, but have trouble with some words. One of them is to be found in 29:50, "I'm not under the Law of Moses, the New testament says it's now ....?...., it's temporary", then at the 34:28, "take the words of the prophets that they had already, and m....? ... examine them", and the final is to be found in 49:02, "it was used for prostitution, it was used for b.....?," so can anyone help me with the correct spelling of these words, otherwise, I can't translate.... All he is saying is that the church start preaching in this issue of divorce. The church's aren't saying anything and this is damaging marriages. Some people don't read their Bibles as much as others but they enjoy attending church. If this was preached about more often, it would possibly convict those who were contemplating divorce. One wants a big house and Mercedes, while their partner doesn't really care about those things. Should Christians get divorced because of worldly things. Well, they do and that's sad and selfish. Remember the parable of the sower And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. Luke 8:7 KJV And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:14 KJV Materialism is destroying marriages

HI if you write to us [e-mail] we would be happy to send you a free copy of Davids book which has more details on this very question - alternatively you can read the book online for free by visiting explaining biblical truth.global ( no spaces) which has many of Davids books free to read some are free to download - this book is under a section called Free Online Books Let me try to answer your question Its important to read the whole Bible not just one verse which may be for a specific context - verses need to be read in the context for which they were written and we must take the bible as a whole , not base decisions on one verse if other verses help one build a full picture Let me summarise what David teaches based on what the Bible says = please don't take what David says unless you check out the Bible for yourself David Teaches that Matthew 5:32 was written specifically to Jewish believers - In context, after engagement, the Jewish betrothal period is 1 year before marriage - this engagement period is considered marriage in that there are very few circumstances where Engagement can be broken, you are betrothed to marry - committed to be married. One of the grounds to break an Engagement is where it can be proven there has been Sexual Immorality If one finds ones partner is not a virgin ie has committed sexual immorality outside of marriage, then that gives grounds to permit divorce. This is specifically important in the case of Mary and Joseph - Joseph had legitimate grounds to divorce Mary because she was carrying a child that was not his - but Joseph remained faithful to her,, and betrothed to her, the fact she was carrying a child, that was not of Joseph, would have been a real issue to Mary and Josephs family. Sexual Immorality gives grounds for divorce but that does not mean one has to divorce because of it You have not asked the question but Davids Book is called Remarriage after Divorce...... We have to differentiate between divorce and remarriage. Based on Bible Scriptures David teaches that Marriage is a covenant not a Contract - Contracts are legal agreements which can be broken and contracts often give terms by which the contract can be broken - called Termination Clauses. David teaches that the Bible is clear that Marriage is a covenant - covenants can only be broken by death. 1 Cor 7:39. Rom 7:2-3 So even if you divorce your partner, because of sexual immorality, marriage to another is adultery and in Old Testament Times was punishable by death (John Chpt 8) Please read 1 Cor 7:10. Mark 10:2-12

The new testament clearly says don't commit adultery, so I think he's entitled to say it in old and new testament. Revelations clearly says practicing adulters will go to hell forever. But the law of marriage clearly changed in new testament. The 10 commandments was given by God HOWEVER the law of a citificate of divorce was given by a MAN and NOT GOD. As we clearly know the original law of marriage by GOD and NOT man, was 'let no man put asunder' that was law was given by God and Jesus said I have not come to get rid of the law but I came to fulfill it.

I suppose that you are meaning Moses's law (first covenant/old covenant). The chapters of 2 Corinthians 3 and Hebrews 8 offer the clearest understanding in terms of Christ making a new covenant in place of the old.

@@ajlouviere202 there is so much controversy on what a covenant marriage is in the eyes of God. People get so angry talking about this. I’m not in my first marriage and people tell me my spouse is not even mine. It’s confusing. I’ve always been taught what’s bound on earth is bound in heaven, so if we divorce and remarry God will honor that. May not be what he wants but will honor it. Many believe God will restore their marriage even if their spouse has remarried just because it’s a first marriage. I can’t believe God would tear apart a new marriage to restore a new one but it has been done. There lyes another divorce. It’s seems like a vicious circle. People explains things but leave it wide open still. It begs for more answers. Is the adultery the sin or the divorce? People say the adultery can be forgiven but not the divorce.

He refers to the original law of marriage when he says " But in the beginning, it was not so" how has he fulfilled the law here? This is a very difficult and often controversial subject to deal with. Because the answers may not what we want to hear Its not important what others say , nor what David teaches but what is important is what does the Bible say ? There are three answers to your question - what does the Bible say - what does culture an date law of teh land permit - what do others say The Lord God almighty is a just God but often we have to wait of that justice to come, what is important to David (and to myself) starts with what does the Bible says The first key question is whether Marriage a Covenant or a Contract ? - What does Jesus say in Luke 16:18? Mark 10 v 1-12? If you believe Jesus taught that Marriage can be broken, you have your answer - however if Jesus teaches it is a Covenant then that can only be broken by death The second question concerns grounds for divorce ........and depending on the first question above, if there are grounds for divorce does that permit remarriage ? It's not whether 'he, the husband' comes back or not - the question is whether she is free ie can Marriage can be broken except by death ?. Romans 7 vs 1-3 1Cor 7:39 ?

There are those who would indicate that Jesus’ direction regarding divorce and remarriage is a ‘law of Christ’ and therefore should not apply to the non-Christian. However Jesus direction takes us back to the creation narrative in Genesis 2 where there is the basic law of marriage - male and female becoming one flesh. This is a universal principle in nature and has application to everyone whether Christian or non-Christian. It is often said ignorance is not a legitimate defence - If I drive over the speed limit in a country - and I do not know what is the speed limit in that country, my ignorance does not change the fact - there is a law and I have broken it One then has to consider whether Marriage is a covenant or a contract - if Marriage is a covenant then the only way a covenant can be broken is by death - when you get married you make an oath - a pledge - til death do us part - whether you are a believer or unbeliever this is a pledge you make - Adultery and divorce is a violation of the sacred bond of marriage. This applies to all. I would start by saying Divorce and Remarriage is not an unforgivable sin - but if you carry on divorcing and remarrying after you become a believer then Hebrews 10:28 is very clear All have sinned - and the consequence of sin is death - so if you are in such position the guidance ice have in the New Testament is clear to all who sin 1. Stop - don't keep repeating - turn away, stop doing the same thing thing time after time after time 2. Repent - go and seek forgiveness from those you have sinned against What happens next?........ is personal matter between you and God - ask him what he would have you do and make sure you do it - and be careful with any advice that others tell you to do - including the above - check out what Gods word says and if thats not clear - ask God for wisdom

Understanding what the Bible REALLY says about divorce is almost impossible unless you're familiar with Hebrew terms and concepts absent in Christianity, such as 'Agunah'. Time and again, I've found that Christian pastors often miss the true teachings of the Bible on this topic. I highly recommend Dr. Eitan Bar's short book, "Christian and Divorced: What the Bible REALLY Says About Divorce & Remarriage." He is a Jewish-Christian fluent in Hebrew. After reading about 20 different books on the subject, this one stands out as the best. I was even an early reader of it.

I am Christian man and try very hard to follow God's laws however what happens when a wife divorces her husband without his consent? This has happened to me and I refused to be divorce and never will you find a signature with my name on any divorce papers. But what to do. Must I live alone in celibacy until my ex-wife dies? No, but I found another woman with the same thing, she refused to be divorced but her husband divorced her. We have been married now for over 15 years but we both think are we living in sin even though we both live in love with one another? I pray that God forgives us both. Then another question which is worse in the eyes of God fornication or adultery? God help me.

According to the Apostle Paul, in Galatians 5:19-21, the sin of fornication, as well as the sin of adultery, will prohibit those who do not repent, and turn from these sins, from any inheritance in the kingdom of God. Pawson does say in his talks that the involved people need to ask The Lord what should be done. Then do whatever He is leading you to do. I've been single for 17 years from an unwanted divorce. It can be done. Edited to add: I would love it if my wife sought the Lord and came back into my life. But only God knows if that will happen.

He made one mistake, he said Paul wrote that a man who desires the office of a bishop should be the husband of one wife. Meaning that if he is remarried he should not be a leader in the church. Why would Paul not just say, if you are remarried (husband of more than one wife) your living in adultery anyhow.

I would think so according to scripture if his other wife was still alive when u married. But I would be wary to rush into marriage after that. Make sure both you/he plan to follow God and are devout. Remember Paul's warning that your heart can be caught up with worldly troubles, you may be more likely to compromise God's will for you, because of too much focus on husband/family. Remember what Jesus said...those who loves others more than me, are not worthy of me. So pray hard about a new marriage. Make sure it's God's will..

that is exactly right. i personally believe it's a real heart issue, and people get married when God never ordained for them to be married. don't get me wrong, He will honor our free will decision to marry someone, but it may not be His perfect will for us to marry them. of course, God already knew we would, and He may allow it for a time and season, but it doesn't mean that we will stay married to them for the rest of our lives. that is reserved for the one person that God has truly ordained for us to marry, and for them to marry us. i personally believe that "divorce and remarriage" really pertains to our personal belief in Jesus, and whether or not we choose to stay steady with Him or if we choose to stray away from Him and marry ourselves to false things.

KJV etc David point is that Matthew 'avoided' using the name of God in preference to using teh term Kingdom of Heaven Reason? Matthews respect of his readers who were primarily Jews and teh fact that Jews feared mispronouncing the Holy Ones name would be dishonouring I did a search and found - only 4 references to the "Kingdom of God" in Matthews Gospel but - more than 30 (I believe) references where Matthew quotes the term the "Kingdom of Heaven" David is making the observation the Kingdom of Heaven - is one and the same as the Kingdom of God - except Matthew tried to avoid using Gods name in respect to his readers ie Jews This is in contrast to the other gospels that quote the term "Kingdom of God" ...... in fact I cannot find any reference to the "Kingdom of Heaven" quoted in the other gospels . That may or may not be true - just I cannot find any when I search Are the facts: - you will not find the Kingdom of Heaven in the other 3 Gospels - the Kingdom of Heaven used far more times than Kingdom of God in Matthew's Gospel ...........not evidence in themselves, that Mathew was making a conscious decision to avoid using Gods name ?

Question: I was married for 2 years, My wife kicked me out of the house and left the country for 6 months leaving me homeless. I was living in a container and a car. When she came back I had started a business. She turned up to clients demanding money from them, she physically assaulted me many times, She caused many problems in the church we went to, she actually refused to be a part of the church because they wouldn't put her in leadership. She ended up going to police and lying about me assaulting her. I was kicked out of my own home yet again, without any proof or evidence. I tried to reconcile with her, be "the good Christian" that never divorces. She assaulted me again to the point where I actually had to defend myself. After that altercation I told her I wanted a divorce. She then went to the police and said I had beaten her. Again no evidence, but Because I was at the home with her when I wasn't supposed to be I had to go to court and was facing jail time for something I didn't do. The entire time I was in court, she was messaging me about how much she loves me and sendin6 random verses. I was let off because the officer who arrested me said my actions were not the actions of a guilty person and that I had gone out of my way to meet up with him over a period of months. After this we separated. I tried one final time to reconcile, she ended up pregnant. I came home to view an Ultrasound. I found evidence she had been cheating (she claims she didn't). After this she ran off to another country and had the child there. A few years later I started dating someone. When she found out, she flew over and broke into my home (I didn't tell her where I was living) and said that God had said to her we would get back together. She then left again a few days later. 8 years on, She barely lets me talk to the child and still pushes for us to get back together. My question is, Does God intend for us to stay with a physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually abusive human being who sees no wrong or shows signs of remorse or repentance in their actions? Am I to stay in a life long relationship with someone who constantly lies and manipulates myself and others for her own gain? I had honestly tried to genuinely reconcile a second time in the last 7 months to find she is still just as abusive as before. This person has brought nothing but pain, strife and misery into not just my life, but my church, my family and my friends lives, some of it ongoing. Now I can either stay with this woman who shows no signs of remorse or repentance, or I can divorce her and maybe one day be with a sound, stable woman who loves the Lord, and that we can be effective together in our Christian walk. Thoughts?

You have no choice but to divorce her, surely trying to stay with her is impossible. I've posted my thoughts on here about how I'm meant to leave my wife that I love dearly and leave my two beautiful daughters because I am, and my wife are in adultery. I have been told that my wife has to go back to her 1st husband she was with over 15 years ago, who is now married again with a daughter too. I believe I am born again, I went wayward from the lord when I met my wife, she isn't I believe possibly not born again, but I really cannot see since I've came back to God's love how I am meant to repent of getting married to a divorced woman. I find it all rather disconcerting to hear that I could lose my salvation if I don't split with my wife and children. If I was new in the faith I could be swung to believe that I have no chance of being saved now because I can't repent of being married to a divorced woman so therefore why don't I just walk away from The Lord for good. When I was very young, and not a believer, I was dating a Turkish Muslim boy. I got mixed up with Islam and the teachers suggested we do a marriage ceremony called Nikah Misyar which is like a convenience for people who don’t want to live together or support each other financially. There are stipulations that the spouses don’t have to do the marriage responsibilities but they can sleep together because technically they are ‘married’ So I did it. Fool that I was. We never lived together and I didn’t tell my family or friends. Some of his family knew and the people that performed the ceremony. Nothing was legalised - we weren’t married in the eyes of the law. We broke up of course and went in to other relationships. I didn’t think anything of it. I ended up being married and having children with my husband, and after that I became saved. It has been some years and I haven’t realised until now that I might be living in sin. Has anyone got some advice for me??😢

I think his biblical argument is that if a wife leaves you wrongly, you should remain faithful until she dies. There is always the possibility of reconciliation. In God's eyes you will remain married unto death. Even the Prophet Hosea married someone that left, but God said take her back again. So at the very least you should error on the side of caution and stay faithful, lest you cause yourself, or the new spouse to become adulterers. The Bible gives grounds for divorce, however if you accept the Bible states Marriage is a covenant - one is only free to remarry when a partner dies - in which case you are released from covenant. He will supply the forgiveness n the wisdom needed to overcome conflicts n challenges that arise in the relationship. Problem is, there are so many marriages that were NOT orchestrated by GOD; HE had absolutely nothing to do with them. Here’s one thing. We know men were divorcing their wives all the time in the Old Testament. When we see the New Testament come to be through Christ, where are all the biblical examples of people divorcing as a show of repentance? The last story he told surely would have been the case for many many families, but not one example of divorce due to repentance can be found. However, the wife, in the above scriptures, is clearly not guilty of fornication because the Jews (that Jesus was speaking to) were still living under the law, and if fornication was discovered, there was a moral obligation to report the offender according to Deuteronomy 22:13-24. The wife, who would have been found guilty of fornication, was subsequently stoned to death, according to the law, which had still governed the Jews up until Christ's death on the cross. The same for a woman caught in adultery, according to Leviticus 20:10. How could a wife, guilty of fornication, or adultery, under the law of Moses, be given a writing of divorcement and be caused to commit adultery with whosoever marries her, that is divorced? Jesus is clear, in these examples, that the wife is not guilty of fornication, but is still caused to commit adultery if she marries another man now that she is divorced. This is the only way that Matthew 5:31-32, and Matthew 19:9 keep harmony with Romans 7:2-3, and 1 Corinthians 7:39. Unlike the synoptic gospels of Mark and Luke, which were written to evangelize the Gentiles, Matthew was written to the Jews, and has of 24 characteristics that identify it as intended for the house of Israel. The ancient Jews called the betrothed (engaged) "husband" and "wife" according to Deuteronomy 22:23-24, Matthew 1:18-25, and Luke 2:5-7. Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (Moses's precept of divorce and remarriage) was never for fornication or adultery. Allowing those guilty of fornication and adultery to remain living and become a prospect for remarriage was against the law of Moses in Deuteronomy 22:13-24 and Leviticus 20:10, which commanded that those who were found guilty of fornication and adultery be put away from Israel, and stoned to death. The law of Moses was not given to the world, only to the Jews. From the exodus, to Christ's death on the cross, the law of Moses governed the Jewish people. Christ's death on the cross caused the Jews to become dead to the law of Moses, so they could be joined to Christ under a New Covenant. This is what Jesus's fulfillment of the law of Moses, including Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (Moses's precept of divorce and remarriage), means. Paul gave several warnings to Christian believers against keeping the ordinances of law of Moses as justification, over following Christ and his commands under the New Covenant with Christ. Keeping the ordinances of the law is no longer possible, for Israel, and that is why Christ prophesied that the temple would be destroyed. These scriptures make it clear that if you choose the law over Christ, that you must keep the whole law: Romans 7:4, Galatians 3:1-9, Galatians 3:10-29, Galatians 4:1-7, Galatians 4:21-31, and Galatians 5:1-15. Being unequally yoked to unbelievers is not a cause for divorce, once two become one-flesh in a covenant of marriage, according to 1 Corinthians 7:12-14. Many one-flesh covenant marriages between unbelievers are recognized by God in the scriptures, most notably the marriage covenants between Herodias and King Herod's brother Philip, Potiphar and his wife, Ahab and Jezebel, and Ruth to her deceased husband Mahlon by Boaz when he took her to be his wife. Some are teaching that 1 Corinthians 7:15 implies that those who are abandoned, by an unbelieving spouse, are "no longer bound" in a one-flesh covenant of marriage. The reason this is in conflict is due to the way some translations word it, which gives it an entirely different meaning, and context. 1 Corinthians 7:15, says, "But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace." As you can see, the actual scripture says "not enslaved" which means that the husband or wife is not enslaved to sin with the unbelieving spouse, and is free to worship Christ in peace. Subsequent translations have changed the words to imply that they nullify the marriage covenant, which is not at all the case. The issue that this creates is with 1 Corinthians 7:10-11, which says, "10To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife." As you can see, those who claim 1 Corinthians 7:15 shows the Apostle Paul giving those who are abandoned permission to remarry, do not understand the command that Christ gives is to an abandoned husband, in 1 Corinthians 7:11, and that he "must not divorce" his wife, and his wife is commanded to "remain unmarried or else be reconciled" to her husband. The theory that 1 Corinthians 7:15 nullifies two as being one-flesh, due to one's unbelief, puts the Apostle Paul directly at odds with Christ, and himself, by implying that Paul has issued an opposing command to verses 10-14 in verse 15. Some also teach that 1 Corinthians 7:27-28 is referring to both divorced men and virgin women, and not exclusively to men and women (virgins) who have never been married. This has been falsely taught for some time in churches as referring to anyone who is not currently in a marriage, which, for them, also includes those who are divorced. This is a very false assumption, and puts these verses in a different context, that is at odds with both the teachings of Christ and the apostle Paul. We see Paul refer to virgins, which signifies the unmarried who have never before been wed, which is the proper context here. We see Paul saying clearly that it is good for virgins, which is also speaking to never before wed men here, "that it is good for a man so to be." He goes on to say, "Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife." Who is he referring to here? Men who, like himself, have never married. The word "bound", in these verses, is a clear reference to betrothal (engagement) and not to a one-flesh covenant of marriage. The ancient Jews were considered bound as husband and wife during the betrothal (espousal/engagement) before becoming one-flesh in a covenant of marriage, through consummation. This is affirmed by the context of the term "bound" seen in Numbers 30:14-16. The Jewish couples in ancient Israel, who were betrothed (engaged) were also bound together until death, either by execution for fornication, or by other causes. Then Paul says, "But and if thou marry, thou has not sinned", which is who? The men who had never married in the congregation at Corinth. So he begins with verses 25-26 speaking exclusively to men that have never married. Paul then says, "and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned", which is speaking directly in regard to virgin women who have never been married, within the congregation, not divorced women. Notice that verse 34 says, "There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband." Paul speaks plainly when he says "there is a difference between a wife and a virgin." Paul goes on to say, "But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry." This is speaking of a virgin who has become of age to bear children when it says, "let them marry." This is a clear command, to a single man, who has taken a virgin to be his wife. Paul then says, "Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well." This is referring again to the single man who decides it is better not to marry, but to stay betrothed (engaged), under the present distress, by saying that he "hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin." Paul then says, "So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better", which again means single men, in the congregation, who have betrothed a wife, do well if they marry, and those who choose not to marry their virgin brides do better, under the current climate. For more proper context of the word "bound", let's look further down in this chapter to verse 39, which says, "39The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 7:39). For so long, these scriptures, between verses 25-38, have been twisted and used to enable divorce and remarriage, by wayward churches and teachers, and have caused many to stumble and to be trapped in unscriptural unions. The use of the woman at the well, in regard to marriage, falsely implies that Christ was endorsing remarriage after a divorce. This teaching is in defiance of Matthew 22:23-28, which shows a woman who had been widowed seven times, and entered into each subsequent marriage without any scriptural conflicts with God's law of marriage (one-flesh covenant) seen in Genesis 2:23-24. Mark 10:1-12 and Matthew 19:1-12 both record Christ's teaching that day beyond the Jordan. There is no mention of the words "fornication", "writing of divorcement", or "divorced" in Mark's Gospel because Mark was not written to the Jews (as Matthew's Gospel was), but to evangelize the Romans, and likewise Luke to evangelize the Greeks, who had no knowledge of the law of Moses in Deuteronomy 22 or Deuteronomy 24. All of these facts draw a clear understanding that remarriage after a divorce, under the New Covenant with Christ, is a scripturally false and baseless teaching. Please use wisdom when living in any situation against what the scriptures command.

In this particular video Pawson is not actually stating definite doctrines, he is examining the main widely believed views, and then saying things like "the more I read about this stance the more I think it is right". That is almost saying nothing. That unfortunately is not a doctrine, it is a persuasion, and thus perhaps he wants to have his cake and eat it, he wants to sit on the fence for his own safety on the day of wrath, but say that the stricter view that "porneia" in Matthew means "fornication" as the KJV rightly interprets is most plausible. It is not enough. As such - even an atheist could have given such a sermon as this, and could have sat on the fence like him. I have made it absolutely clear in my teachings for over 20 years online, and 45 years in churches, the word "porneia" in Matthew 5:32 definitely means fornication, and that anyone saying it means adultery is a cause for a Christian to divorce their Christian spouse and remarry is a heretic, and that by sanctioning adulterous second marriage they have turned their church into a sex cult. That is pretty clear!!! Unless I see in his other videos clear definite doctrines, rather than wishy washy statements like he is "persuaded one way" or "persuaded another", I will start to suspect he has visited websites were clear teachings are made, has repeated the content without attribution, but that he himself is a halfway man not able to take a proper stand. ANYONE can say what all 3 or 4 main stands are, and say in effect "I drift in this direction". A clear (deliberately extreme) example is a man who marries a woman who claims she is a virgin, who on the wedding bed is discovered to be covered in VD sores, and from her anatomy can be seen to have had a baby. She confesses immediately to her FORNICATIONS (porneia), but says he thought he loved her so would not hold it against her. This man can DIVORCE his wife, and yes she WAS his wife as marriage is a covenant, and without consummation it is still a marriage (or Jesus would be born illegitimate). HOWEVER if any man finds his fiance has fornicated before marriage he can end the relationship too while engaged, but in the west the word "divorce" would not be germane.

I looked at the Greek word in the bilinear Bible. The word Jesus used in Mathew was the word porneia. Meaning only one time what this man says but 21 times used as sexual immortality. Covering several forms including adultery, fornication, whoredom, and even idolitry. Look it up. I appreciate what this guy says but it's not completely accurate. He chose the example where it is only used one time and it was not the example in Mathew where Jesus gave his exception. These teachers are counting on the fact that people will be intimidated by using the Greek and nobody ever looks it up because they don't think they can understand it. Not true the tools we have now are very easy to use. Look it up yourself. Don't just take people's word for it no matter how smart they sound. Look it up yourself .

Scholarship 101 " no doctrine can and should not be set from any scripture that is taken OUT OF CONTEXT" This my problem with people looking for significance, and people groups who try to do the same. They filter the bible using their doctrines instead of filtering their doctrines with the bible. There has never been a church body of leaders that has EVER used ONE story to set up a doctrine, doctrines that any of us set into our lives should be gathered from multiple places of scripture that agree with each other. Now my original intent was to show that weather or not you agree with what the guy here is saying you should know that what he was saying about greek scripture was at best opinion of his own. The greek scripture says that pornia the word can be applied to ALL forms of sexual immorality. The man misrepresented scripture by saying that there is only one possible interpretation of this word. That shows both a bias and intent. Now people can try to cover up the truth all they want to, but in the end we must be convinced in our own mind before the Lord, and the Lord will deal with us accordingly. My intent was to merely show that the greek word did NOT just mean what this man was saying. When teachers don't reveal every side that they can it reveals motive. Sorry it's just fact and human nature.

My issue was this man said that the language of Jesus' exception, IN THE GOSPELS, said something that it did not say, and it is clear to me that you don't understand this. Please understand my disagreement has nothing to do with weather or not you believe the topic or believe what the description of fornication is. My issue is that this man misrepresented what the greek said and that people should study for themselves. Since you avoided the entire subject of the greek and wrote out the entire story in the hebrew it is clear you don't understand so we are at an impasse. What you note as "sexual immorality" is also termed as "fornication" depending on which translation you use, but what they indicate is in the same context of someone who is currently not on a one-flesh covenant of marriage. The confusion is caused by the fact that modern doctrine does not recognize that the Jewish people, during the time of Christ, also referred to the betrothed (engaged) as husband and wife (Deuteronomy 22:13-24, Matthew 1:18-20, Luke 2:5-7). This brings the term "sexual immorality" (fornication) into proper focus. Jesus makes a clear statement that adultery is the result of a divorce, and subsequent remarriage, not the cause. In fact, Jesus never lists any specific cause for divorce, and neither does the Old Testament, but only that "It hath been said" that in order to divorce let him give her a certificate of divorce (which the Pharisees already stated was for any reason), and then Jesus states the phrase: "except it be for fornication", which clearly means it was an exception to giving a certificate of divorce for any cause. The clear reason that you could not issue a certificate of divorce for her to become another man's wife is seen in Deuteronomy 22:13-21; 23-24. A betrothed wife caught having committed fornication was stoned to death, not given a certificate of divorce in accordance with Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (Moses's precept of divorce and remarriage). Understand the context and meaning of Jesus's words in these verses: In Matthew 19:3 the Pharisees asked Jesus a question according to the law in Deuteronomy 24:1-4 about divorce for any cause. In Matthew 19:4-6 we see Jesus reply by reciting the one-flesh covenant of marriage (God's law of marriage) in Genesis 2:23-24. In Matthew 19:7-8 we see Jesus giving the Pharisees the reason that Moses wrote the precept (Deuteronomy 24:1-4), which was because of the hardness of the hearts of the Jews of the exodus (the wicked generation kept out of the promised land) against their wives. In Matthew 19:9 Jesus affirms that the law in Deuteronomy 24:1-4 was for any reason "except for fornication" (Deuteronomy 22:13-21; 23-24) because it was unlawful to give a woman, guilty of a sexual offense, a certificate of divorce in order to become another man's wife. She was stoned to death, which freed the husband from the betrothal in order to seek another wife. However we see this is not a possibility, under the Law of Moses, which now causes the husband to commit adultery by marrying another woman. Keep in mind that Mark 10:1-12 is the same biblical account as Matthew 19:1-12, but does not have a cause for fornication. The reason for this is because this account was written and given to the Gentiles who had no knowledge of the Law of Moses in Deuteronomy 22:13-21; 23-24.
