I didn't meet brother Howard until the last couple years of his life when he was in a hospital in Philadelphia. One day I lkogged on to messenger and Howard was gone. His family was there. He had passed. As a 60 year old white boy living in Toronto, I still consider Brother Howard to be my mentor - and his grandson is pretty darned good, as well. By the time I met him, Brother Howard could not play anymore. But he still schooled me.Taught me. He told me what I was doing wrong and what I was doing right. I miss him so much. That is a selfish statement. But I think Howard Carrol might be the single greatest guitar player who ever lived. He did not think of himself that way. But he was. I miss you Brother. Thank you. And thank your family for accepting this old white boy from Toronto. May God go with you, Sir. Maybe one day we will meet again.

Howard Carroll was indeed the best gospel guitarist for all time simply because he was playing from a spiritual heart and played for your enjoyment in a faithful way. I too enjoyed his musicianship. I know he loved you as a brother. Many thanks for expressing your admiration for him. I am happy that you appreciated him so much for his talent. Thank you for sharing your story.
