@@gameseduard6466 fox are not domesticated pets, theyre exotic, if you have the patience to deal with an animal that is not going to follow your rules/orders and will do as they please and if you also have the money to keep the fox aka environment, food, vaccines, vet bills then yeah you will be ok

@@gameseduard6466 one thing you need to realize about foxes is unlike other pets, they don't worry about having their owners approval, meaning they don't exist to please their owners. This video shows that very well, just like Mikayla said everything is on Dixie terms. Also you have to realize they can never be fully potty trained so if you're planning on keeping it in your house you'll have to accept it will pee and poop everywhere including things they want to mark as theirs. Mikayla has no furniture in her home either bcuz of this and even has to lock her shoes away so they don't pee or poop in them. This is why so many people surrender their pet foxes shortly after getting them. A lot of the time too even if you hand raise them from very young they won't attach to their owner and won't ever let you pet them. What we see how they are with her isn't the norm, she's a very special person who has this gift to bond with these beautiful animals, but I think it's safe to say that most foxes don't interact with people the way they do with her. She has a coyote that is aggressive with everyone else, but when she is with him, he acts like a baby and gets so excited to see her. I honestly would love to have one too, but I know it's really not a good idea. They're very special animals.

@@Mythosician06 I've owned a lot of cats in my lifetime and I'd say that applies to cats as well. That's kind of what I like about them -- the fact that they're very independent, at least to a great extent. Sure...a lot of them like to cuddle and be petted -- and fed! But they seem to do it more on their terms. The thing about foxes that's clear from these videos is that they just pee all over the place, kind of like ocelots. And their pee stinks. At least with domestic cats they use the litter box. (Most of the time.) :-D I think the lesson here is that it was pretty clear from the outset that Dixie wanted to be left alone. And Mikayla knew that, and even said "Don't bite me". But rather than leaving Dixie alone she kept at it and got bit. So in a way it's a two way street.

That's no longer a pet in our house. Not friendly? Off you go. Foxes are wild animals. Most dogs are not. If you allow a pet to assume the 'alpha' role, stand by. You have made a serious mistake. The reliability of establishing the 'alpha' role with a DOG is pretty solid. Not so with a wild animal. Domesticated dogs had uncounted generations of selective breeding to eliminate their 'wild' instincts. Foxes have zero generations of breeding-out bad behavior. Failure to establish dominance with an aggressive canine is a very foolish thing. Ever have young children in the home? With a 'pet' that has learned there is no 'negative reinforcement' for biting a human? Do not try making pets out of wild animals. They have wild-animal instincts, which is 100% not their fault. It is 100% your fault when you get bit or a young child gets bit. I've been watching these videos. This is NAIVE owner. . .
