Love it. I have some similar concepts in my 76. I use SPDT relays to shift loads between batteries, change modes, etc. 2x Raspberry Pi's, one for the Victron apps, the other as a general computer. Motion sensors trigger the roof rack & rock lights. Its honestly too much fun as a nerd.. Its endless when you get this creative. Well done mate, your content is great to watch.

Well done, my son and I watch you guys every week, it s great to see practical and affordable (no cash for comments) projects. This is what we did in the 80's we made all own stuff, even made our own winch form old motorbike gear boxes. Keep going guys!!!, one small comment, please reduce the size of the circuit breaker and put it near the battery, (I am communications engineer) 100 Amp is way too big and you have left your wiring exposed to fire from your distribution box to the battery. work out you maximum load, add 10% and that should be the breaker size.

Circuit Breaker needs to be closer to the battery, at the moment it's only really protecting an overload from the fuse panel. It's not protecting the battery from a short. Should be as close to the positive terminal of the battery as possible. Great video though

Good job mate. Those little remote relays are great for so cheap. You can save wiring if you just run the power feed to the roof and put it in a water proof box. Then run to the lights from there. Saves running 4 lots of wire up to the roof. And pro tip. Don't have your fire extinguisher at the source of the potential fire. Have it a bit away. That way of there is a fire you will be able to get to it. Because if there is one right above it, you may not be and to get to it because of the fire and heat 😉 then it's useless

100 amp Circuit Breaker that maybe abit to much for the wire your using, the whole point is the circuit to pop before the wire does
@Sethjxl
@Sethjxl 3 жыл бұрын
The breaker looks sufficient for the wiring. Remember, that 100a breaker is only to protect the (looks like 6awg) cable going from the battery to the fuse block. The wires connected to the fuse block are individually protected by the respective fuses. With that said, those cheap resettable breakers almost always pop at %80 or less than their rated current. I've even had one catch fire. Just use fuses and carry spares.

Put a Anderson plug on input to your cabinet. On your 100amp reset fuse put a slow blow 100amp. Your wiring put on cable clamps to stop vibration on cables. For you fidge check out lock your hubs on voltage regulator. Keeping voltage steady.

The raspberry pi reminds me of the GPS tracker I made with an arduino, had gps info, time and altitude logged to an sd card and you could see the exact places you went at what times at whatever speed. it was pretty neat for me at least. Your raspberry pi could easily do that! after a few trips you could make a map of lines where you've been around australia

Idea. If your using on canopy, or just want security. Add some doides with a keyway switch to turn on a pir, vibration and siren alarm circuit. You could put in a diode to hazard switch. They all come with time out relays. This for your roof rack lights.

I have 360 degree lights on my bus for camping and 4wding which id consider a must have, but I put the switches in the front on roof on a blank panel so I could quickly hit them on the go. They are brilliant for night time trips out bush or if im towing a trailer, I can flick the back one on to check on my cargo. The motion one is a pretty neat idea though. Might have to look at that myself :). I also opted an android stereo which does all the file transfer, wifi, internet, google store for games n apps, music, movies, reverse camera, gps ect. Its basically a tablet/laptop thats built into the dash. They are awesome to have on a 4by.

Great stuff love it as usual! Just noticed battery volts dropped a bunch when turning on various lights and stuff. Either your battery is cooked or you need to run two separate wires directly from the battery. If you've run small gauge wire that supplies the rest of the panel it will affect the voltmeter reading. Another option is to run an oversized wire from battery to supply the box. Cheers
