8:01 Using the 100Ah battery as their example, the battery that drains their battery to only 20% full or 80AhX250 cycles=20,000Ah for the life of the battery. Next one 50% full or 50AhX500 cycles=25,000Ah, finally the cycle that the uploader is recommending is 80% full or 20AhX1,200 cycles=24,000Ah. As you can see in this scenario it's actually best to drain your battery to 50% as you get the most Ah of all the examples. In fact their is only 20% difference between the best and worse case scenarios. I think the most important message for people is to never drain your battery below 12 volts as below this amount you can damage your batteries and significantly damage your battery. Make sure you have an automatic cut off switch that protects your battery from deep and catastrophic damage to your battery.

Almost perfect vid. Awesome for 1st timers and really showing people it's simple stuff. Only correction is the amp delivery from that 200w solar panel. That current was in relation to panel voltage. The regulator will drop the volts from 21ish volts down to 13-15v (depending on charge setup), which in turn raises the amps. Watts 101 is p=v x I so say if your regulator is outputting 14v you will be seeing closer to 15amps (50% more than what the panel outputs directly).
@4wdsupacentreAu5 жыл бұрын
Glenn Matthews you’re spot on and good pickup, but what I forgot to mention is that it comes with a PWM regulator - so not a great buck converter. If you used an MPPT solar controller you would get a much better power output with higher amps as you said, but I’ll go into that more in part 2. Thanks for the comment and cheers for watching! Thanks, Cahn
@hellsfurygaming30295 жыл бұрын
@@4wdsupacentreAu no worries mate. Helps that I'm a sparky lol. Totally agree, just pointing out the relationship between volts and amps with a constant wattage. Love ya gear and the wicked prices. Keep up the good work 😊😊

This is why MPPT charge controllers are way better than PWM. You can effectively run a much higher voltage solar panel set up and convert all those extra volts, into amps. Provided the battery can accept the elevated charge rate though.

Using a Heavy-Duty True battery isolator provides several advantages for truck with auxiliary battery Reliable Battery Management: Automatically ensures the starting battery is charged first, then charges the auxiliary battery, preventing the main battery from draining and ensuring reliable engine starts (True Battery Isolator). No Voltage Drop: Unlike traditional diode isolators, True isolators have no voltage drop, maintaining optimal charging efficiency (True Battery Isolator). Dual Sensing Technology: Monitors the voltage of both batteries and engages charging for both if either battery is receiving a charge, which is particularly useful when using external chargers (True Battery Isolator). Durable and Compact Design: Built to withstand harsh conditions with features like waterproofing, heat resistance, and anti-vibration casing, ensuring longevity and reliability in various environments (True Battery Isolator) (True Battery Isolator). Easy Installation: Simple three-wire installation without the need to bypass existing alternator wiring, making it user-friendly even for novice installers (True Battery Isolator). Cost-Effective Solution: Provides a budget-friendly way to manage dual battery setups effectively, offering long-term savings by extending battery life and preventing failures (True Battery Isolator). Safety Features: Includes ignition protection and operates within a wide temperature range, enhancing the safety of your vehicle’s electrical system (True Battery Isolator). Overall, the True dual battery isolator enhances the reliability, efficiency, and longevity of a dual battery system in various applications, from trucks to boats and RVs. Problem: I have a 1999 Suburban with a secondary battery tray. I want to install a second battery with a VSR Battery Doctor (Wirthco brand) that has an "Override" button for jump starting off the secondary battery. My problem is I have all my camping accessories wired to the main under hood fuse box, which is connected to the primary battery. Question: Is it OK to pull the fuse box cable off the primary battery and hook it up to the secondary battery, so I can use my accessories? If by chance I accidentally ran the secondary battery dead, would the "Override" button work to power the starter relay and ignition system to start the engine?

Great video! Excuse my ignorance, I have a question, I have 3 agm 125 amp hr. batteries all in series, connect to my 3 (100 watt solar panels) also connect in series .Do I have to recharge them individually when there about to go below 50 percent, or can I leave them in series and have all three batteries recharge at the same time. ( Have a battery charger and a 2000 Honda generator).
@4wdsupacentreAu4 жыл бұрын
Are you sure they're in series? if so they're running at 36V 215Ah. If they're in parallel then they're 12V, 375Ah. Yes you can charge them all together if this is the case - just connect the positive lead of the charger to the first battery and the negative to the furthest battery. that way it's charging equally through all three. This is a good link to check out for more info: www.impactbattery.com/blog/tutorials/how-to-charge-marine-and-rv-batteries-in-parallel/ Cheers, Cahn

Thank you for this video series. Like many people, I've watched a million diy videos about solar for my camper. Yours is the first one that really helped! I have some questions. We live in the northern hemisphere. We have a slide in truck camper that is 100 % battery. I'm just in the process of upgrading our system. I just purchased two 12 volt 100ah LifePo4 batteries and and also 2 ANU 400 watt 18 volt solar panels. I will now, after watching your videos, be purchasing a DC to DC charger with solar capabilities and is MPPT. I heard that I have to charge the LifePo4 battery with a higher voltage like a 20 to 36 volts. I was planning on connecting the solar panels in series, but I'm not sure that's the correct decision. I also heard that the Lithium battery has the potential of exploding and catching fire if it's overcharged. Should I connect the solar panels in series? Will the DC to DC charger and solar controller do a proper job and not overcharge the Lithium battery?

@8:03 using your numbers on discharging to 20%, 50%, and 80% - then 50% discharging would get you more amp hours mathematically? Using a 100ah battery to 50% = 25000ah while 100ah battery to 80% = 24000ah?

if i had 2 400amp 12 volt batteries wired in series, would that give me an 800 amp 24 volt battery bank? i need 800 cca. will that work?
@4wdsupacentreAu Жыл бұрын
It would give you a 400A 24V bank. Series multiplies the voltage Parallel multiplies the Capacity (amp hours) If you need an 800CCA 24V battery it’d be best to look specifically for that Cheers, Cahn
