I did this a couple years ago with two of my daughter’s jeggings-then they became one of her favorite jeans with all the extra stretch and roominess. But I didn’t have exactly your skill level so the inside is really a mess 😅! I think I will keep doing this with more of my kids’ outgrown pants to make them some bigger sizes! Leaving the raw frayed edge is so cool.

Nice, how could I make the front pockets bigger on my pants?
@playhooky2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've done this on a couple pair of my jeans, but I certainly don't do KZbin videos. It would be great if @Catherine Sews would do a video on this! Basically I cut the front pockets out of an old pair of jeans that were no good, unpicked the bottom seam of the pockets that I wanted to extend, pinned and hand-basted the additional pocket material to the bottom & then machine sewed it. The additional pocket material I used was wider than the pocket I was extending, so I did have to adjust that, and sewing the materials together at the very inside point (near the zipper of jeans) was challenging. Hope this helps!

Excellent video. I am trying this now but am super stuck on the part where I lower the crotch. There doesn’t seem to be a straightforward way to do this without causing a pucker in the most unfortunate location. It’s hard to see how you finessed it because jeans are black. I would love to master this as I have several low waisted jeans that are going to waste. Thanks in advance to anyone with suggestions!!
@CatherineSews Жыл бұрын
I think the key is at 2:52 where I pin it on the inside but check it first on the outside to make sure there is no pucker. Also, make sure you have removed the topstitching from the seam or you'll definitely have a pucker!

Watching you contort to pin behind you makes me wonder if you could have laid out your mashed together jeans as if they were yardage, then lay over them a pants pattern to at least get your pinning somewhat close to your figure measurements. You know how to manipulate pattern pieces and your tape measure. 🤓
