An inspiration for creativity.. I too have made instruments from essentially scrap! The idea is the thing that counts. There is a mini drum kit in my front room made from varying diameters and lengths of heavy duty cardboard carpet cores, wood glue, scraps of wood, plastic lid and recycled para cloth from the recycle shop! My kids couldn't stop playing them, all the uncles aunts cousins etc had a blast with them, they were painted with acrylic paints I had around, yes they got worn, but They were old carpet rolls and cost nothing? Literally nothing, just my time and scrap. Christmas 2013. Inscribed on those drums are the words "don't let money be the excuse to not invent" PANJO ! Brilliant...

You're getting better. Even if I don't like your head stocks :) maybe you should have made a taller bridge, then lower it to prevent from fret buzzing, and planing the frets and sanding them to make them round would have been great :)
@ScrapwoodCity
@ScrapwoodCity 7 жыл бұрын
Τhanks. The frets don't buzz, it's actually the bridge that needs fine tunings with the file! If the frets go in place right and the fret board is flat, there is no need for leveling at this stage!

You are one of the few people who use a fret saw to cut the fret slots. Most people on KZbin use a Japanese pull saw, or a Tenon Saw.

It made me wonder why they're called that - in the past people used to talk about "fretwork", which is what people use scroll saws for nowadays. I will have to find out why frets are called that, and why fretsaws got their name. I really don't imagine there's any direct connection.

I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been been better if you'd reversed the direction of the pan? You could also go one step further if you're truly going for the banjo sound and strap a skin to the front. Anyhow .. the concept is great. Love the video.
