I believe this is my first ever KZbin comment. I’ve been looking for bookshelves for my first house for 9 months. Nothing was what I wanted so I figured I’d make them. These are perfect! I love that I can make one for my front room, and stack two or three next to each other for my home office. So excited to start this project!

Agree and thank you! I know everyone's vehicle is different but another thought is how would you ask them to cut down the wood on different projects to fit into an SUV or a car. That was my thought when you said 12 foot piece - if I have home center cut that in half, will it screw up the cuts for this particular project? I'm used to positioning pattern pieces for sewing and hate to waste material. Its like the same hurdle sometimes wondering how to get the wood home in the first place. I'm sure a lot of people let that stop them from getting started. Silly, right?

@@eurasiers I once put two sheets of plywood on top of a Porsche and even drove the highway home, the slowest you can go, 45 mph. Get some rope and have fun. Also moved a king size bed on top of it too. P.S. I now have an Envoy.

I love the fact that you stain your boards before cutting. That makes it so much easier when the wood is flat and easy to reach. I did the same before building a bed frame. It just made more sense. The bookshelves turned out modern, contemporary and beautiful. Gorgeous work!

Wow... this project turned out amazing. I just stumbled on your diy videos as I vowed to put my woodworking skills back to use (thanks shop class from junior high school). My 12 year old loves working with his hands and we built this start to finish (my 6 year old even helped us sand by hand). This took much longer than expected because it has been our largest build and the first time using the Kreg Jig. But we loved it and pushed through some frustration points. I left 9in from the floor, 13.5 inches, 9 inches, and an open 6 inches at the top (also closed the top 2x2's - no top shelf closure). This was a VERY specific build to allow me some additional shoe storage on the bottom, bin storage, and jewelry storage. It turned out really great for a fraction of what a bookshelf would've cost otherwise. Thank you very much and my son and I are now following your projects (I have my eye on the bench seat for the bathroom next - for my bedroom though). Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm a mature women, have only ever put furniture together. I need shelves for fabric, boxes holding sewing necessities, and I think these will be perfect. I've been pricing drills and a saw to do repairs in my home as money is tight, to pay someone would be pretty tough on my budget. This project would be perfect, although I feel ill need 3. I want them to look good as my sewing space is going to be at the wall end of my Sun Lounge. Plenty of light to sew, Fabric in boxes and a spot for my sewing machine. I really want to do this, if I succeed, I will definitely post a pic. First to buy drill and saw.... Thank as always for another great project, and for letting folks like me have access to your plans with brilliant tutorials. It is very much appreciated as I think I can buy the electrical equipment, wood etc for the price of the Ikea I had in mind, and I'll still have use of the drill and saw! Have you any small tiling projects in mind? My kitchen is small but well planned and I need to do back splash. I was thinking of subway tiles, the smaller ones which are backed. Firstly I've never tiled before, secondly, kitchen is small, but plenty of power points. Thank you again.

Hi! I love this concept & I think wellI know I’ll be using it for my 3 year talk on putting in built in bookcases in a perfect spot for all our boxed up books & of course decorations that also double as storage. Thank you so much for sharing. Now get some rest you have looked a little tired. You have just not looked your usual energetic self. A baby that is on the run & in general family that is growing will do that to the best of us. Rest or just a little time to yourself everyday should help. I hope.😏 I’m still hiding in my closet daily. Lol! I actually hiding right now from a pile of laundry. 😊
