I’ve done this same technique only instead of a ceramic pot I used a bucked like the one you’re mixing in. I just cut a thing around the top so that it didn’t have rim and looked the exact same shape at the pit used here. It came out looking very similar a cost far less. I do however appreciate the moss tip and will try to use it next time I make one. Great video!:-)

Wow, that's perfection. I've been searching the Internet on how to do an aged planter and this was it thank you so much for these amazing ideas❤❤❤

Excellent project. I have done this with stone sinks to make rustic troughs. If you can't get moss, you can mix the finishing mortar with animal or plant milk and the organic mix will find moss and lichens naturally over one year.

Hi Stephanie! I have actually tried the mortar on a plastic pot, it does work. However, if the thickness at the top of the pot isn't on the thicker side it tends to still have a flimsy type look. I like the look of a real thick sturdy pot so it's all the look you'd like but I prefer a pot that has some thickness at the top (if that makes sense!)

Looks beautiful! We had went camping recently and I grabbed some moss while we were out, originally going to use to put moss on the two big rocks I got from the same area last year, but I might use it to do this to one of my planters like yours.
