curious, where on the Kenai Peninsula did you catch a chum salmon? Ive fished every creek and river from Anchor to the Kenai and ive never seen anyone catch a chum salmon south of Anchorage.

The chum salmon are there just not every year. Some years the chum will be in one area and the next they will not, it depends on their genetic cycle. From what I understand the fry will leave the streams and head out to sea for 2 to 5 years and then return to breed. The best source of what type of salmon is in each area that I know of is on the Alaska Department of Fish and Games website, if you go to this link and go under the Southcentral Fishing Reports you will find what is currently running: www.adfg.alaska.gov/sf/FishingReports/ . Thanks for watching and for your question.

How is your Porta Bote and motor holding up?
@VikingExpeditions6 жыл бұрын
The Porta Bote is doing fine and so is the Suzuki 6HP motor. The only wear that the PB has shown is on the bottom of the hull where it came in contact with rocks, nothing serious just cosmetic. I just got through changing the oil/filter on the Suzuki and the lower unit gear oil and all this maintenance was easy to do by yourself. I have under 50 hrs on the motor and have had no problems, paint looks good and no rust on any parts. Outboard motor technology and reliability has come a long way and I am sure you could get similar results from other major brands. In this HP range the shallow running (tilt mechanism) capability and weight made the difference for me over the other brands. If you have any other questions let me know and thanks for watching.
