Sure. Most people do these refashions with men's shirts. They're larger, so more material. And usually thrift stores have a ton of unwanted ones in good condition. One thing though: make sure, the collar doesn't look too big on you. Unless you don't mind cutting and sewing a new one from leftover material. Or make the dress with a different neckline altogether.
