So I have to tell you that at 47 years old I found your DIY video 4 years ago and have used the vit C serum off and on and now for the last 3 months regular every night. I ABSOLUTELY love your recipe and it is for sure more effective than any other high end product I’ve used!!!! I am so grateful you uploaded this years ago!!!! It’s there best stuff ever you should have patented it!!!!

I wonder how some people think before judging. Critics are good but don't take other people's shine away. She clearly talked about oxidation and how your vitamin C can become oxidized. The vitamin C supplement I take orally is in a soft gel form which is packaged in a very opaque soft gel and container. The reaction between vitamin c and oxygen results in the brown discoloration which will happen on your face after application anyway. Adding vitamin E oil will help preserve your product if you want to keep for at least 2weeks. Use a pharmaceutical graded vitamin E oil, not the cooking type. I believe Lisa mentioned the use of vitamin E oil in her tutorial. If you choose tap water for your concoction then it is only good for daily use. You have to make it everyday, otherwise use filtered or distilled water to prevent mold and bacteria growth. You need to be a chemistry or biochemistry major before you can judge whether someone is wrong or right when it comes to analysis of concoctions and preparations. I have worked with pure ascorbic acid and fruit juice derived ascorbic acid in the lab. And I can tell the effect of light exposure and municipal water as opposed to filtered light and distilled water. So Mariam, when you want to judge or critic or argue, get your facts straight and back them up. Do your own research and not Google research. I didn't work on vitamin C until I saw some of Lisa's tutorials. Beside my chemistry knowledge, I used to make my own lotions from scratch when my family used to be poor. Looking back at those days, I realized we had less skin problems compared to what we have now and I decided to go back to my formulas. I made my lotions from concentrated lime juice, coconut oil, and Shea butter, toss them out after a week cos they turned brown. I realized it was oxidation process that turned them brown, but didn't know until I carried out several tests in the lab. I can back these statements up because I have performed experiments using essential vitamins, light, and oxygen. Thanks

Could I use a crushed vitamin c tablet instead?
@fiwajomiadefuye
@fiwajomiadefuye 9 жыл бұрын
No. Vitamin c tablet has other components such as binding starch, cellulose or whatever the brand company used to mould vitamin c into tablets. You can order L-ascorbic acid online or at a chemical store.
@fiwajomiadefuye
@fiwajomiadefuye 9 жыл бұрын
It is powdered

If you can't access the pure vitamin c, try the plant source, although the potency will be different because the plants have other elements and nutrients in them, but it is still better than crushed tablets. Try lemon or lime. Note that ascorbic acid is not the same as citric acid.

hi! thank you very much for this video, I have spent a lot of money on various anti aging products and some of them just proved out to be like glycerin with a high price tag, Then I bought ( w...nyarganoil…c ) Maxelder Argan Cream. Oh god I was surprised to see the results. *The cream helped in renewal process of my skin and I had no dryness or blemishes, Just simple flawless skin* Thats what I needed from a cream.

Glycerin is sticky so I like to add less than half the amount to water. Probably like 1/4 or 1/8 depending on the season. Start with more water to make sure your powder dissolves before adding a little bit of glycerin. The powder will dissolve but not instantly. Let me know how that goes;)

Hello! L-asorbic acid only starts to oxidize when it comes in contact with the other substances. That's why you need to make this serum in small batches, make enough for the week at most. In it's powdered form,l-ascorbic acid is completely stable, so you'll be fine! If for some reason your skin does not like l-ascorbic acid (it is not completely natural), you could try camu camu powder. It is expensive, but it's all natural and has a lot more vitamin c. Hope this helps!

You should treat acne and moisturize your scars in order to heal and fade properly =) You do not want to over dry your skin which can cause breakouts and darken acne scars. I get them a lot and vitamin c and licorice extract works amazing. So yes, use both DIYs and let me know how it goes in a few months. Good luck and our skin takes time to adjust and heal.

I might make mine using aloe vera juice and glycerine for added comfort. I will have to test the final consistency to make sure it spreads nice and easy. Most aloe vera juices also contain citric acid, or Vitamin C, so be careful if you try this too. Although, it's not the same kind of Vit C, it might increase sensitivity or burning.

All you have to do is follow the recipe of ascorbic acid to base. The base can be your lotion, cream, or a mixture of water and glycerin. You can pretty much add additional ingredients into you base to mix. I gave 3 method and ingredients you can use for all three. If you still don't understand, email me. I respond quickly via email.
